No BS Podcast #85: A Fistful of Chuckles
Happy Halloween, dear readers. We hope you dressed up as something geeky to celebrate. This week, the podcast gang recounts their visit to the amazing Morrison Planetarium, discuss the Oil Immersion PC we have in house, and dish about the recently released X58 Core i7-compatible motherboards. Plus, Norm accepts a challenge and attempts to eat some gross jelly candy (Chuckes after the jump). And as always, answer a load of listener questions (including a call-in that we rate 9.5!).

Looks like I'm a little late replying to this one. Oh well. I just hooked my PC up to my HDTV and surround system with a new HDMI cable, so I'm going through some backlogs of podcasts to make sure I get my money's worth! Interesting stuff here. Tech related talk shows are always a great way to kill an hour or two. As for Chuckles, yeah, I think most people, even in the US, are only familiar with them because of Seinfeld. It seems to be one of those weird candies that only gets distributed in certain areas, because I've been from California to Florida and have never seen Chuckles in person.
Thanks

How could you not know what Chuckles are? We don't even have them in Australia but I know what they are because of Seinfeld. Shame on you. Also Norm needs to man up or move out. Can't eat 5 candies? Really?

I'm not sure what was more surprising, that Norm couldn't eat more than one or two Chuckles, or that the others had no idea what the candy was. Chuckles have been around forever, and serve much the same purpose as Necco wafers or pixie stix - to get as much sugar into you as quickly and as cheaply as possible. Water was also a bad choice, Jolt is the appropriate beverage to pair with the chewey confection, the high acidity and carbonation scour the sugar from your mouth and put it in your gut where it can do it's job.

Norm, jesus, you can eat 4 monster cheeseburgers but you can't take down a package of CHUCKLES candies. C'mon MAN UP!
And Norm, regarding your comment that there is nothing nutritious in CHUCKLES. IT'S FUCKING CANDY. THERE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ANYTHING NUTRITIOUS!

Chuckles are the greatest. Norm's tastebuds must be shot after licking too many PCs. Chuckles is the best gum drop based candy out there. Hands down. They are the anti latte. Norm is a Chucklehead.

Ya, that was my question. It took me like a half an hour to say it and 1. not screw up and 2. do it well enough to get it under a minute. I did a little cut and pasting with audacity. Now I just need to wait for Core i7.......

Puget recommends mineral oil from a pet clinic (it's used as horse laxative) for pc submersion. Their reasoning is on their website: medical grade oil is purest.

Some of you may remember this, it was a sidebar in the July 2004 issue of Maximum PC. And yes, that is Logan Decker (used to be at MPC, now at PC Gamer) and Gordon drinking out of a beer bong made out of a Zalman Restorator.

And here is a photoshop of Gordon's face onto a Heavy from Team Fortress 2, plus some tweaking to make him look really angry.

Only thing you could do to make the photo shop or gordon onto a heavy is to change the heavys skin color to match gordons

New display technology will consist of individual red, yellow and purple "jelly" cells (shown here magnified ten bazillion times). The pre-production model we received didn't work with either the included DVI cable or display port, but it sure was yummy!

Not that it's a big deal, but the Podcast Number should be #85 ... unless of course a few zombies survived the last podcast and we need to do some cleanup ...
Looks like the downloaded file is numbered correctly.
