No BS Podcast #77 The Going for the Gold Edition
The podcast gang supplies our listenership with gold-medal-worthy tech advice this week! We lead off with a discussion of what your email address says about you and then crown the winner of our Win a Dream Date with Norm competition. Unfortunately, the man of the hour was out of the office working on his high bar routine, but we sifted through the entries, judged each participant on a 10-point scale, and decided that one of the myriad contestants rose above all others!
The ol' No BS Podcast mailbox was overflowing with questions this week. We discuss the possibility of using an Nividia and ATI card in one rig, how to take care of your customer-service woes, and whether you should switch to 64-bit Vista. Gordon Mah Ung also takes the floor for a few minutes to supply us with another Rant of the Week!
Do you have a tech question? A comment? A tale of technological triumph? Just need to get something off your chest? A secret to share? Email us at maximumpcpodcast@gmail.com or call our 24-hour No BS Podcast hotline at 877.404.1337 x1337--operators are standing by.

Isn't it 4th week? Which means the magazine capture point must be taken first! Once that is done, Team FU will certainly take the podcast capture point!
Or something like that ...
I do miss the podcast, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait ...

Yeah what he said. I demand an explaination why are you delinquent with the totally free podcast 78 that I don't pay for? I insist. Or I'll never again purchase another podcast. Errrrrr...........
You owe me (absolutely nothing) damnit... I want that podcast. My neighbors puppy will not rest until you give us another podcast. I've been spiking that pups water with pulverized NoDoze tablets.
Not really but it sounds funny.

If there is a computer with no networking card you can use the usb and you will have internet. It's about a 10th the speed of cat5 and u MUST install the drivers for it.

Shame on you MaxPC! You should have known the answer to this question. Just to add to strykyr's answer, you cannot connect a pc to the ethernet port and the usb at the same time.

Stumer? The person with the 8600M gt - I have the same card in my asus laptop. Get rid of/uninstall that program, it sounds like bloatware to me. I've had some issues with mine as well but I've found that keeping your sound on normal 2 channels and *not* selecting the virtual surround option works the best. Also, disable/exit logitech's setpoint while playing too - that had issues with multiple keystrokes pressed at the same time. Lastly, consider that it might be one of the many defective cards - see here: http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/07/09/nvidia-g84-g86-bad

What the hell? Everyone should overclock their floppies! Think of the production increase!
Also, in responce to the ATI and nVidia in the same machine. I tried it with my PCI-express nvidia 6800 and I threw in a really old PCI (yes PCI, not PCI-express) ATI card and everything died. The 6800 would not display anything, and hte ATI card could only display things at like 4bit color at 680X420 (or whatever that really low resolution is...). Could be because one card was so much older than the other, but I don't know, when I did it, it didn't work. All on windows XP
