(hanging head in shame) It's my fault. I went and sided against the family, err MaximumPC. Will deleted one of my posts and wrote that because of that post there was'nt going to be a post for last week either. I sent a letter of appology to Will and even posted an appology with no success. I've changed my ways and have quit making posts that go against the family, err MaximumPC. Will your not going to insist that TheMurph take me fishing in a MaximumPC row boat are you?

I was merely answering a question posted in the ringtones that should be avoiding article. It asked just what is Chocolate rain and I pointed out what it was. Sure it was a silly answer and post but comeon it was funny as heck. You had to have a chuckle. The last thing I would have expected was for one of my posts to cause a pod cast stoppage. Am I really that powerful?

For the record, if we have to trade two (three??) weeks of the Podcast, for a few pix of hot geek babes at the comic con, and one disturbing pick of licking a prop. I'm going to vote to keep Max PC out of the Comic-Con.
Seriously, not having the podcast sucks. But, not having any info sucks worse.

We go through checking for a podcast everyday that it's late, and find nothing. Couldn't they at least let us know in advance? If there are too many more 2-3 week skips in the podcast, I think it might just be removed from being a feature of the site. We can only hope not.
The podcast aint over till the fat lady sings, and I think she finished two weeks ago.

MP4 splice and mixer software? I have other software but it is cumbersome and takes a lot of time to splice segments of MP4's together. Hey, even if I have to pay a few buck, I just want to find an easy to use software to create the segments and then mix them into my own montage...
Also, do you know of any cheap miniDV tpae player devices that attch to a PC? I know the new wave is solid state memory or SSHD cams now but I don't have $1500 to get into one at the moment plus I have about 4 years of DV tapes I'd like to convert... (I know I can use my camera to stream them in but it requires that I have to re-capture the video stream with software - I can not directly copy a PC friendly file off the miniDV tape through my camcorder)

I have tried out Handbrake today and it is awesome! I was skeptical as its roots are from the Mac side (this is MaximumPC after all!) but under Will's recommendation I gave it a whirl. I have been using other encoders (H.264) but they lack the queuing ability. I also noticed that it runs faster then my other encoders I use as well.

I'm assuming you have only that one CD drive on the IDE channel. Set the jumper to master. It will be the master on that IDE channel, not anywhere else. Usually if its the only drive, cable select should work, but setting it to master should do the trick. Cable select is very finicky so just putting it on master should fix the problem. The IDE / SATA drives don't talk to eachother so having both of them connected at the same time shouldn't be an issue.

The problem with the whole "jumpers are the problem" is that it doesnt work on cable select... so how can it be a jumper problem? it cant... i would say it is ether a bad cable or bad drive... if he hasnt tried a new cable thats the first thing i would sujest... if that doesnt work see if you have an old CD drive around the house and try that to replace the first one to test it... it it recognizes that then you have a bad drive

my itunes hasnt yet ether... its because the store hasnt refreshed its media list... try right clicking the "mp3 audio" link and save the "target" to your computer... thats the quickest way to get it and put it on your ipod/mp3 player
