Maybe I'm in the minority but I really like this week's (month's?) rant. Usually it starts with Gordon asking "did I rant about that last week" which just doesn't work for me. I mean, when you watch the Downfall Parodies, Hitler never asks "Jodl, did I already rant about the XBox?".

But this week, going on about mobile devices (not) needing performance, Gordon was clearly in full rant mode. You could almost picture the other people in the room ready to dial 911 if he had a seizure or stroke. That was a fun way to end the episode. Keep it coming.

-Josh.. another nice job of moving the discussion along at a reasonable pace as well as keeping the non-computer/tech chit-chat to a minimum. The podcasts have been more enjoyable and informative since you took over the reins. Thanks for last month's Chrome extension "Price Blink".. not perfect (doesn't show US.NCIX.com nearly enough even when that site has a lower price) but decent enough.. I use it in conjunction with "The Camelizer" Chrome extension which tracks Amazon & Newegg price history of a product.

-Starting to worry about MaximumPC's ability to swiftly review newly released technology.. i.e. no Surface Pro to review.. and.. discussing the Intel NUC MONTHS after websites already reviewed it (TechReport, Nov 18, 2012 - http://techreport.com/review/23888/review-intel-next-unit-of-computing & PCPer.com, Dec 14, 2012 - http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/Intel-NUC-Next-Unit-Computing-DC3217BY-SFF-System-Review).. you had a NUC back in November so why now are you just discussing it? Glad you received the TITAN in time to review it before it was released or I really would be worrying about how relevant your magazine/website has become.

-Don't want to hear about NEW contests until you actually announce winners of the almost 2 YEAR OLD "Photo Awesome #29: Gordon Mah Ung Uses an iPad" caption contest where "the five funniest will get Maximum PC coins or t-shirts". Why no winners??

-Other trilogies not mentioned.. "Back To The Future", "Toy Story", "Bourne", Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" movies, and some with more than 3 films like the "Die Hard" series. Check out "empireonline.com/features/trilogy/" concerning this discussion

-Glad Gordon's so-called "rants" are getting less podcast time as, since Will Smith left, they have progressively been getting less funny and interesting while simultaneously become more predictable and repetitive. Really, is there any thing of value or of interest from Star Wars Episodes 4-6 that Gordon hasn't discussed on and on ad nauseam?? The same goes with Apple. Gordon hates Apple.. we get it!! Move on since it stopped being funny 3 iPhone generations ago. Gordon's "rants" use to be varied in content, insightful and humorous.. now the rants are narrow in scope, somewhat vindictive and just plain boring. No wonder Josh couldn't understand what Gordon was saying. Honestly, the Gordon Mah Ung "soundboard" is more interesting than the real thing!

-Thanks Josh for cleaning up the spam. Never saw that Jim Carrey movie so missed the reference. FYI.. I assume the podcast was recorded last Friday but you didn't post it until the following Wednesday.. why so long?

I miss Will's straight man to Gordon's rants too. As a person who appreciates and employs sarcasm often I thought this podcast's rant was the most entertaining I've heard in a while.

In general the internet is ruining the fun of sarcasm. I think we need some sarcasm punctuation now more than ever!

1. Thanks and you're welcome.

2. We did a NUC head-to-head when it was first released and didn't really review it, but then took a look at it recently again so we decided to discuss it more in depth. Microsoft doesn't like us so we haven't gotten a Surface Pro yet. We're not sure what the deal is to be honest.

3. We'll be announcing the contest winner today or Monday. It's confirmed, signed and sealed. We're just waiting for one last shoe to drop, sorry for the delays.

4. Regarding Gordon's rants I have no comment. I know what Gordon was talking about now that I've had some time to listen to it but his sarcasm was lost on me when we were recording it.

5. There was a holiday weekend in there and it wasn't edited in time to post. Again sorry for the delays.

Thanks for taking the time to give me and us your feedback, it is read and appreciated.

"Microsoft doesn't like us so we haven't gotten a Surface Pro yet. We're not sure what the deal is to be honest."

Sorry Josh!

I feel this is my fault somehow...

Maybe Microsoft is mad because they can no longer sell spyware platforms to informed individuals

Microsoft's Motto:
Blame those damn hackers when you get caught leaving all the back doors wide open....

...and then send out a security patch and tell everyone the problem is fixed while you still leave all the back doors open

Oh well, maybe the A-Team can find out what the real problem is

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57570861-83/add-microsoft-to-list-of-hacked-companies/

OK, the A-team reports that Microsoft is pissed because all the real hackers know how to secure their computers from Microsoft security exploits
------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry Josh, I'm not really sure what that means or why that would make a security minded company like Microsoft mad, but, at least I tried

Just ask Ballmer why he's so pissed

I'm sure he would love to tell you

Nobody got the Me, Myself and Irene reference?

I haven't seen that movie in so long...about the only thing I can even remember is that it starred Jim Carrey.

Gordon, I just want you to know that MOBILE PERFORMANCE DOESN'T MATTER! PEOPLE DON'T CARE! PERFORMANCE, MOBILE, DOESN'T MATTER! HOLY SHIT $NEW_ARM_CHIP IS SO FAST!

"Prediction of the Week" might be a great topic on the podcasts

I predict that the next NUC will be Massivly Upgradable
USB3 Ports
Dual ESATA Ports for SSD's in Raid configuration or a single SSD and an internal optical drive connected externally using a 12v power brick
Thunderzolt connectors for external graphics cards including external graphics towers for several cards

Prediction of the week may give the "Geniuses" at Intel and Microsoft the direction they need without worrying about non-disclosure agreements

Right now I am already running Windows XP from a USB boot drive by loading it as a virtual machine in VMWare player on a Windows 2 Go Operating System

I predict Microsoft will get the clue before they crash and burn

See how easy that is?

From the podcast; "It doesn't exist until somebody buys it."

LOL priceless! I love these podcasts, keep it up!

praetor_alpha

I think he meant "it doesn't exist until Apple makes it"

It's a shame you guys didn't do this podcast before the Titan announcement. Now it's gonna feel outdated!

avatar

joshnorem

We couldn't do it this week as we're knee-deep in benchmarking. Maybe we'll do one next week.

I knew I'd seen that picture before. I thought it was from my archive of the physical magazine but I didn't see it when I skimmed that. Thanks for the link.
