If Gordon keeps doing his rants on star wars you might need to consider a name change to maximum star wars

Until you start marketing this as a kids show, please do, just keep it real. Be yourselves. What I want to hear is a bunch of "regular" guys (PC/tech nerds) sitting around talking the same way they'd talk if no one was recording.

Josh, you've been talking about people complaining about you doing your job (moving the podcast along) for several podcasts now. Seems like since you last took over for Nathan. The podcasts seems to be about par for the course compared to when Nathan had them. Perhaps its time for you all at MaxPC to just apologize for not being able to record forever (sarcastic). 1.25 - 1.5 hours for a podcast of the nature that MaxPC provides is more than reasonable. Keep up the good work!

The "rant" is important to us. Ranting about Star Wars is getting old, at least for me. I'd much rather listen to a good rant on things like:

Any Apple/Mac product - like say an iPad mini
Windows 8
Touch Screens (Gordon does 180!)

Seriously? Now Gordon is for Touchscreens? I believe he is under duress. That would actually be a great lab experiment. Sit two people down, one with keyboard, one with touchscreen, and then benchmark the time it takes to do ANYTHING. Touchscreen is great I'm sure for hunt & peck keyboarders. The rest of us like to get things done before we die.

Lots of good content this podcast! Yay for Zune. :) No talk of the Corsair 900D? I will be legitimately disappointed if DM2013 isn't built in it.

Addressing that dude towards the end about the cursing...dude the rant wouldn't be near as funny without it...it makes it more shoot from the hip and honest.

Yay! I always love hearing the latest podcast from the MaxPC crew!

btdog

It's not in the iTunes store - where do you have it for download?

avatar

Engelsstaub

Mine just downloaded earlier today because I'm subscribed. IDK...

avatar

btdog

Odd...as of 1035pm ET it's not in the store - most recent is 193. I'm subscribed as well - nothing.

Engelsstaub

Yeah, something weird is going on...I just looked too.

If you follow the first red link in the post above you can right-click on the player and save the mp3 file.

Most of the the musicians I know have went back to PCs. As home recording has become much more popular, starving artists can't afford the inflated mac prices. Even the studio I was last in was running a PC.

The video professionals I know all use mac but they are getting more and more upset with the software practices of Apple.

avatar

Engelsstaub

Apple really is alienating many pro-users by dumbing down video-editing software and not updating the Mac Pro workstations.

Pretty much all of the audio-editing software I use on OS X is available on PC too. People think they "need" a Macintosh to do professional audio stuff...I'm seeing about as many using PCs as well. (I don't even use Logic Pro so I wouldn't *need* a Mac. I'm just invested in the platform. Literally almost two thousand dollars worth of software.)

the podcast is cut short. only like 20 minutes long

avatar

chriszele

We fixed the issue with the podcast being only 20 minutes. There was a problem when we uploaded the file, but the current version is the full podcast at 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I hopped in the car the other morning and was looking forward to this podcast. When it abruptly ended I wondered if it was just me. I guess not.

We fixed the problem with the podcast today.

Thanks for the update!
