Awesome podcast guys! I'm sad to see Nathan leaving, it was nice having somebody that appreciated the Elvish language on the podcast. :)

Best of luck on your new adventures in Texas!

Josh, you're awesome, as expected.

I miss hearing these more than once a month. :(

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, when's the last time you saw a $7000 gaming rig on air cooling?"

Uhh... Dream Machine 2011? Hahaha

Now maybe the Mag will do something again. I can't even find it on shelves anymore.

HOLY SH*%!!!! I haven't listened to the podcast yet but.. WHO CARES!! Someone has finally come to their senses!! Thought Josh became "persona non grata" after his 2007 [H]ard/OCP "Magazines vs. The Web: End of an Era" article. Now the freakin' best editor boot/Maximum PC has ever had has returned for a THIRD time, breaking the tie he had with George Jones and Michael Brown!! Josh wrote the two best pieces EVER in boot/Maximum PC history.. the Austin Power's inspired "Mini-Dream Machine" (January 2001) and the "Chamsalot P-III 1GHz" (November 2001) where Josh wrote the two best lines contained in any review.. "Case of the Gods" and "His boss paid for it"!! BTW, what model was that Antec case.. it was never mentioned!!

So welcome back Josh!! Over two years ago I was pimping for you to return as EIC.. (http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=103987 --> "Hope Jon finds someone worthy of the position.. I nominate Josh Norem!! About time he is untied and released from the closet you all have been keeping him in since he resigned for a 2nd time!! The mag also needs a cat lover on board since "The Murph" left.") It will be great to finally hear you on the "NO BS Podcast".. I remember when you, years ago, successfully substituted a few times for Will Smith on some podcast I don't remember the title of anymore. Good luck Josh and hope the third time is a charm!! Stay awhile this time and don't ever be tempted again to put on the leather, helmet and boots while working at Motorcyclist magazine.. reviewing cases, heat sinks and taking lolcat pics is where the action is!!

Thanks for the kind words - it is much appreciated. I have given up riding also, so I won't be donning leather any time soon. I will keep the lolcats flowing though :)

I am pro "have Murphy do it."

Also, welcome back, Josh.  This new gig better not affect your output of excellent cat pictures.  :D

Nothing will stop the cat pic output Dave. I have my priorities.

Welcome back Josh!

So now that you're back, does that mean the return of the "Suck Ass" award? You guys only used it once a loooong time ago.

Also, does this mean that when you're late on your deadlines that Gordon and Katherine are going to tie you up and stuff you in a closet again? I seem to recall there was a picture of you bound and gagged...

Thanks Bensen. I thought it was the Lick Ass award though? I was tied up once but that was at a different mag :)

The "Lick Ass Award" (LAA) was unveiled on pg. 68 of the Sept 2000 issue. But I couldn't find any evidence that it was ever used in a review. It wasn't mentioned in "The Maximum PC Verdict-O-Meter" (Feb, 2001 pg. 59) but the "Kick Ass Award" is. I assume the LAA would be automatic for verdicts (score) of 1, and discretionary for 2 verdict. When the Palmp-3 received a verdict of 2 (May, 2001 pg. 71), the LAA wasn't shown. Further research will be needed to clear up this mystery.

A Google search turned up the April 2001 issue where on page 20 The Dog responds to Richard Doane regarding the Aviator Webgear.

"The Dog Responds: Maximum PC gave WebGear's Aviator pro product a 9 verdict and a Kick Ass Award in June 1999. Now The Dog is giving the company a minus-9 verdict and a Suck Ass Award for its inability to be straight with its customers."

But I don't believe this is the Suck Ass I was thinking of. I could swear there was a graphic similar to the Kick Ass Award, except instead of the fill being red, the fill was blue. And it may have been earlier than this issue.
