No BS Podcast #181: Turning The Heat Up To 11

If you'll recall, we lost 20 minutes of the last No BS Podcast to the Macbook Pro in the podcast recording studio. For this week's episode, it ate a mere 10 minutes of the rant. So thank you, Macbook, for screwing us somewhat less than you did last time. But don't fret--even without those 10 minutes, you're getting a solid hour of news and discussion about ultrabooks, Battlefield 3, the most high-tech thermostat ever, and more.
Computer trouble? Star Trek argument? Need advice? Just need to get something off your chest? A secret to share? Email us at maximumpcpodcast@gmail.com or call our 24-hour No BS Podcast hotline at 877.404.1337 x1337--operators are not standing by.

So according to the Maximum PC Newsletter sent on the 10th, a podcast was recorded sometime last week. That's great.... but a week(+) later how relevant are any of the descusions going to be? A week is way too long to sit. About the only thing that stays entertaining is Gordon's rants.
Either record and post within 24 hours, or just scrap the whole thing. I'm sure the Tested crew would let Gordon do a guest spot to get his rants out in the public.

"Scrap the whole thing"? STFU, you don't have to listen to it if you don't like it. Yeah, we'd all like to hear a WEEKLY podcast once again, but anything is better than nothing. These guys need encouragement to do more of these and get them out sooner, but they don't need your "encouragement" to give up entirely.

Just read the Feb issue of MaxPC and in the Lab Notes section Alan Fackler spilled the beans by admiring that Nathan Edwards (who in a few short years have gone from Butters the Intern to Senior Editor) was able to finish Skyrim on top of all his other work. Now we know why there hasn't been a podcast since early November. Skyrim. Understandable really...

I simply miss this podcast. It's one of the very few that is both an education and entertainment, and I like the people on it. Maybe you're really busy but I hope that you've the desire and plans to come back regularly in 2012.
Happy New Year.

Sad we won't get an ALL RANT EDITION this year...I listen to those year round...There's nothing like a 3-hour session of Gordon getting all his frustration out...Let Gordon rant or he will blow a 50 amp fuse!

Nope. Last year end, they did a 30 min podcast then went to a Gordon Rant Compilation for 4 hours. Also January is CES so don't expect anything til third week of January if we're lucky.

Not to be an ass, but why are you still not using some redundancy in recording these things?

You should use Windows, never had any problem recording with it. Andy used Sony Vegas if I remember correctly, you should try that.

"The MacBook ate my ability to properly monitor the production of our podcast! Again!"
...lame. Where did Andy Bauman go? Did he use the MBP when he took responsibility for the podcast's production? Just wondering...

I just started listening to the podcast and heard you talking about the MBP "going to sleep." If this is the case here's what you need to do:
Click the Apple logo (upper left-hand corner) and click System Preferences.
Sleep settings are located under Hardware - Energy Saver.
Pro tip for which you're welcome ;)

Maybe the experts at Maximumpc should actually use a pc (or laptop) to record the podcast instead of a mac product. Just a thought.

Actually... a Mac is a PC, so they did use a PC.
And yes, I know they don't like being called a PC but still... Hipsters
