No BS Podcast #175: Room With No View Edition

While we were gone, we bought you a pony! Nah, we didn’t, but we did make some changes! Episode 175 of the No BS Podcast is the very first episode recorded in Future US’s very nice podcast recording studio with Andy Bauman sitting RIGHT THERE! Previously we’d just recorded via Skype at our desks. The new way is much better. We think.
Join Gordon, Nathan, Alex, and Andy as they discuss the crazy new podcasting setup, Windows 8 and the future of Windows, the post-PC era (again), Google’s two-factor authentication, the new Star Trek-themed PC mod they’ve commissioned, and more!

I quit waiting and am now enjoying a weekly and I mean every week podcast episode of Gun Dudes and other podcasts on the Gun Rights Radio Network. It helps to have a little interest in your 2nd Amendment rights and guns and gun ownership.
I couldn't stand to listen to Tested Podcast as the last couple of times I listened to it Will Smith was practically kissing Gary Willah's ass. I mean he even called him a great man. The dude is Brit and wrote a screenplay for a movie. Gary is an admitted Mac Addict and doesn't even game. He had never even before opened a computer up let along built a PC before and yet Gary is on Tested podcasts. So I haven't listened since.
Is the Magazine past it's prime? Has it and the podcast jumped the shark and pretty much on it's down slope into oblivion?

C'mon guys. It's called Skype. Easy way to record the podcast. Y'all don't have to be in the same room. Pleeeeeze? I'm getting tired of PC Perspectives & This Week In Computer Hardware.

Yea.... Andy Bauman ain't the Podcast Producer anymore and I'm willing to bet his duties got spread to other people, aka. "whoever has the time" and with E3 just ending, finishing up the next issue and also the next Max Tech issue coming up it means no one has the time. And since no one is gonna make the podcast nicey nice, why bother record it and stick it on a shelf til a few weeks later when the info is really old? They are gonna wait til a lull in the schedule before producing one. Assuming that Gordon doesn't explode from all his pent up rants...

The podcast is AS important as the mag. We miss it because like a good radio program, you guys feel like friends.
And I would like to know how Maximum Tech is doing. The idea to make it newsstand only is flawed. I would drop $20 in a second to get a subscription, but I'm not paying newsstand prices for it, or any mag.

I may be way off here but something tells me the people(suits) running this mag are assholes.
I love my monthly mag but I also enjoy the podcast immensely, for me they both go together.
It's always some fuckin suit at the top who doesnt give a shit, I'll bet the moron running the show Isnt even a PC guy.

I have a Core 2 Duo E6700, and I can barely play some of my games like Black Ops and Civ V bc i'm CPU bottlenecked.

Just thought I'd share my experiences with Pro-Post-PC users. I work for a company that is heavily Apple biased and when some of the senior staff members travel from the US to our UK office, they only have an iPad with them!
However, I'm not sure if they ever retreat to the safety of a laptop or desktop, I'll have to ask the next time one is in the office.
Personally, I would die without access to my desktop PC at home, or my work laptop. I'm a sysadmin and couldn't manage my multiple application windows and terminal sessions without a keyboard and mouse! Oh, and then there's the little issue of playing FPSs! ;)

Always look forward to your great podcasts. Gotta say, though, the audio quality with the new room is awful, despite the fancy equipment. Hope it's just an adjustment period!

I subscribe to the No BS podcast using Zune, and #175, is actually a repeat of #175. Thought you'd want to know.

After checking out the Windows Supersite, it seems the "Tile" UI is the default for Windows 8, and the Windows 7 UI is only for legacy software. What you were saying during the podcast was incorrect. That tile based UI will be on the desktop version and will work with mouse and keyboard.
