No BS Podcast #125: Did You Hear About the Apple Tablet, Made by Apple?
Google's Chrome OS press conference gave us plenty to discuss on this week's No BS Podcast. We give you a recap of what juicy nuggets were revealed, and explain why Windows won't be replaced by Chrome any time soon. We also talk about benchmarking a dual-Radeon 5970 system, comparing it to a tri-SLI GTX 285 machine that we reviewed a few months ago. Finally, we answer some listener questionsand Gordon breaks not one, but four NDAs to tell us about a super secret product.

I made a video based on Gordon's rant. I should have commented this before, but I didn't think to.

I'm sick as hell of the fucking Apple tablet I hope it never comes and if it does, it falls flat on its face. Apple fanbois are the pathetic people on the web, some guy told me I had to prove apple harware was overpriced for what you get, like that's hard.

What the f#ck is the point of making your podcasts available for syndication if you abstract the MP3 from my aggregator (Google Reader) behind some lame download page? So not only can I not just hit Play in Google Reader but I have to go to your lame download site which by default in my corporate IE settings fully downloads the MP3 and scans it before it prompts me to "allow download", which upon clicking redownloads and scans the entire mp3.
What kind of f#cking idiot had the bright idea to break feed aggregation?
There, how'd I do?

When I visit the feed, it provides a direct download link, just like every other podcast feed I've used. We haven't changed anything in the way the podcast works in months, if not years. We don't have a built-in Flash player because no one ever really asked for one.

Man, am I embarrased. It looks like my corporation has ninja-installed some funky proxified download-interceptor. What threw me off was that the Play button in google reader is broken, which doesn't really make sense as it is not a download but a stream and when I am on the download page for the direct MP3 it has the URL for your site on the top despite displaying the new interface.
Bizarre that they have us shackled to IE6 and then throw funky advanced proxies at us. Sort of like putting an advanced biometric lock on a wooden bicycle.
Please feel free to 1) ridicule me publicly and/or 2) delete my comment chain as it is incendiary and unwarranted.
Thank you also for checking into my (apparently baseless) claims and doing your due diligence, I appreciate the efforts you all put in. Great podcast as usual, Gordon's mindblowing reveal this episode made all this embarrasement worthwhile.

Wait, I heard the Apple tablet was being made by Dell or something....
And it's not going to be called the iTablet???
And I hate those Nvidia ads at the beginning of every fucking game. I BOUGHT YOUR DAMN GRAPHICS CARD, I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR AD ANYMORE. I have actually gone back to flipping the Nvidia ad off like when I was using ATI.
To all Pubs and Devs: If I cannot skip an intro video on the second start up, I will make it skippable. Do what Blizzard does: skippable video on first start, then no video afterwards. I know you have clients and such, but the gamer is your customer.
I recall that Nvidia stopped sponsoring some event a few years back (a LAN party, I think) because they realized that they were advertising to people who buy their products; besides, they are not a graphics company anymore. Maybe they could apply the same logic here.

So there's going to be a new tablet out soon? And it's going to be made by Apple?

I hope HTML5 dethrones Adobe Flash. I'm really sick of the entire "no-alternatives" deal.
By the way, loved the rant.
P.s. I've never been in an Apple store either, I usually wait outside if my friends decide to check one out.

Seriously, week after week, it's the same thing. Apple. It has any number of successful and compelling consumer electronics products and services. Get over it.
Do you have any other opinions on anything else going on in the consumer personal computing space or do you have a copy of Windows 7 shoved so far up there that all you can see are panes of red, green, blue, and yellow?
Your contribution to the show is comic relief at best and Windows fanboy cautionary tale at worst.
Find a new saw. This one is worn out.
BTW, I do not own a Mac or an IPod.

Thanks Will, you taught me well:
"The Contrarian/Non-Conformist: Students of fanboyism commonly confuse these archetypes. They share similarities, but to the trained eye the key difference is simple: Contrarians like products because you dislike them, while Non-Conformists like them because everyone else dislikes them."
-Will Smith in "I Am Not, Nor Have I Ever Been, a Fanboy"
Everybody loved Gordon's rant (including myself), so I guess there had to be a non-conformist to throw a rage comment in there somewhere.

Technically speaking, he was lampooning the idiotic excuse for "technical reporting" that swirls around the Apple cult, not Apple products. If you can't find satire in the daily nonsensical Apple tablet stories, you need a humor transplant
BTW, I own a Mac Mini and an iPod.

Gordon thanks for breaking those NDA's and getting maximum PC sued into oblivion - it was all worth it. I mean not only is it a tablet, but it's made by Apple. It's has a CPU! I nearly died when you told us it had a freaking back light. Simply amazing.
