No BS Podcast #119: Graphics Fermi and For You

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

In this week's episode, Will gives a recap of the keynote from Nvidia's GPU Technology Conference, where CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced their new Fermi GPU. The gang discusses the latest Google Wave beta, Nathan chimes in to talk about his hands-on with Thermaltake's wild Level 10 PC case, and we also tackle a bunch of listener questions. Gordon finishes off the podcast with another furious rant of the week.

I'm a photographer and I don't use Macs.  Photoshop and Lightroom work excellent on either platform.

avatarListener question re entering BIOS during fast start up

Woo, my question made it on the podcast and now I'm a star!

... ._.

The audio was a garbled and I misspoke a little (I was nervous and those fuckers at the stop light keep using the u-turn lane as a left turn lane and I was distracted with rage). Rehash:

Problem: Can't enter BIOS because startup screens don't appear for more than 0.5 secs before the Windows starts.

Possibly Pertinent Information:

  • OS = XP64
  • CPU = Intel Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8400
  • MOBO = EVGA nForce 750i SLI
  • GPU = nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+

Solution during startup:

  1. Mash buttons fast - FAIL
  2. Mash buttons real fast - FAIL
  3. Hold down F2 - FAIL
  4. Mash Pause and Spacebar real fast one after the other to see which keystroke corresponds to entering BIOS - SUCCESS (answer = Alt + F2)
  5. Hold down Alt + F2 - SUCCESS

I love you Maximum PC. p.s. - Do the email question audio formats have to be mp3 or will m4a work, too?
