No BS Podcast 101: We're on Candid Camera

You guys asked for a video podcast, and we've delivered. Sort of. In the first post-controversial-musical edition of the No BS Podcast, we experimented with streaming video of the show live on ustream.tv. Will twittered about the show once we got the webcams set up, and 40 people jumped into the channel to watch Gordon, Will, Norm, and Alex chat about this week's news and last week's regrets (spoiler: we have none). Download the MP3 (it's much longer than 21 minutes) and sync up the audio to the video recording on ustream. Be sure to follow us on Twitter as well, so you can find out when we do our next live podcast recording. If you're willing to watch the live feed, we're more than happy to broadcast it.

This weeks podcast was good. But I liked last weeks all singing edition as well. I thought it was rather brave. Bugger all those negative people who cried like babies, its free guys! You ain't paying shit so you can't sook!
On another subject, question for fellow listeners, can anyone recomend a good avi/DVD to PSP video convertor?
Keep up the good work, the podcast rocks weather it is sing or talking!

I dont think anyone would mind a couple ads here and there in the podcast as long as A. Its not overbearing and B. Its helps keep up the podcasts or puts some extra cash in your pockets. I realize it may be harder to "support" something just because they paid money for it but wasn't it you guys that had something to the effect of a penis enlargement ad in your magazine at one time? I guess you would deal with it the same way you deal with ads in print...some work, some dont, and some just dont fit with the program at all.
Just try to avoid ending up like Diggnation.....which is a great show....for an hour long Michelob ad. Good thing I like Michelob....hell...maybe we'll get to see cigarette commercials again. Yeah! I guess.

This podcast was pretty good. I listened to the mp3 in iTunes then I watched the recorded video on ustream.tv and I think you should do all of your shows live. The whitty comments that you guys edit out are one of the best parts. You need to fix the video so that the video stream matches the audio stream. Go back and watch it if you haven't already and you'll know what I mean. Otherwise, good podcast, the 100th episode sucked.

awwww, I was hoping that the podcast was truly a video podcast. How can I see the recorded show? I went to the link and it's not there.

At the bottom of the page, there is a set of three tabs. Click the one that says "Videos." Then click the only video that pops up and it should play in the video player. Unfortunately, they must have deleted the video for episode 102, because it is not there.

Maximum PC NO BS podcast has returned to its former glory! I am so glad to feel that familiar sense I got when listening to your guy’s podcast in the past. Back to technology, some side jokes, and good ol’ Gordon’s Rant of the Week.
Oh, and if there is ONE complaint I must make “Drum roll” it is that the Storm Troopers in four, five, and six of the Star Wars movies are NOT clones. Note that they are NOT. They are indeed regular humans throughout the galaxy, as the clone troopers in episode two and three died off because they AGED rapidly. See: Growth acceleration in episode two.

DVD Ripping

Hey there's a free version of DVDFab Decrypter that can rip the entire disk as a whole to your hard drive, and works on more disks than DVD43 did. Right now DVDFab and DVD Shrink are the only ways for me to rip my DVDs using Vista 64-bit. I only fire up DVDFab Decrypter if DVD Shrink can't do the job.

Good podcast, AS ALWAYS, guys.
Loved the 100th. I'd comment on the out-of-tune singing, but I honestly can't do better (and probably could do worse). Absolutely loved the "Still Alive" spoof as well.
And if it helps: You guys are the only podcast I listen to. The 100th just reinforced my interest in keeping it that way. :)

I appreciate you guys playing my question (really soft sounding Blair MacDonald) but you forgot to answer my question about firefox.
I'll ask here in case someone wants to answer it: Why doesn't firefox offer to remember my username/password for hotmail? It does it for every other forum/email I have.
Anyway, good show, the old format still works well!

it depends on the field name. there's some extra code that goes into play that tells firefox not to "remember" that specific user input - this is to (i'm guessing here) avoid inadvertant access to attackers who may have compromised a machine. it's strange bc gmail allows you to remember but yahoo doesn't. Also my bank's website doesn't allow it either due to security reasons.
if you're conserned about security of remembered passwords then use a "master password" which you type each time to enable the regular "remembered" passwords.

i am listening to the podcast and its all good the guys are dicussing old cpu's my fave is the pentuim 3 733 mgz
it worked great till this year when it finally started showing its age now that said it was basicly used for surfing the web im sure if i i did a video upgrade all would be good again specs p3 733 mgz 1.2 gigs of pc 133 ram ati rage pro 128 16 mg video card 2 80 gig maxtor hd's dvd writer lite-on cd writer philleps i have a friend with a ati x1300 agp 256mg card hes thinking about giving me im sure if i had this card i would be good for 2 more yrs oh also 10/100/1000 nic card . have ran win 95 thru xp server 2003 . been a really solid pc have had newer cpus but it was not as good . now dont think of mojo as a miniamal pc'er cause current system core 2 2.8 ghz 3gigs of pc 800 ram nvidia 8600 gts 2 250 gig hd's creative x-fi sound card . now that is not maximum either but still respectable for what i use it for . ok we are at the half way point all is still good gordon is a comedic genius watching him on the feed really really great i think it will be a great addition if you do it every week especily gordons rant i think it would be great if gordon would fly the finger during the rant or break something every week cause like i said gordon is a fucking comedy GOD!!!! now were to listener questions still fricking loving the show ok now for the RANT RANT RANT GORDON SAYS FUCK 17 TIMES DURING THE RANT!! Seeing as how you are in San Francisco and seem to have some sort of contact with Veronica B...and therefore I have to believe some other folks involved in Revision3....have you thought about pitching your show to them? I mean if you plan on going the video route and all it seems like a no brainer really. And if it helps get rid of iFanboy in anyway whatsoever I support it 100%!

I don't mind at all about the ad on the podcast if it´s what keeps it going. Just a question:
Are they gonna be Maximum PC tested and trusted products, or just products?
It'd be great if they are services or products that we can trust and are really useful to the readers/listeners, instead of just the ones that got the money to advertise on the podcast.

Coming from a print world, I typically don't like endorsing any advertisers products (that's what you're asking, btw)....
However, that's a little different in the world of radio. Let me think about it some and discuss with some other folks.

Yeah, that´s what I meant. But also being sure that the service/product is not gonna be horrible... at least something that you have tried.
I totally understand the ethical problem of endorsing your advertisers, but it could also be something you already use. Some software you use daily, some tool you would think is good. Something along those lines. Still, I don´t really know how that world works, so I leave it to you, guys. Just keep the podcast coming :)

Thanks for the video thing! It is kind of corny and unessessary but I do like learning how you normally record the show. Very interesting, but I wish you had an .mp3 of it so I could just listen to how you record it (cause the video isn't really nessessary!). Thanks for a normal show!

We would need to somehow get a webcam on me in SLC, Utah that can be switched to in order to see how I run the show and record. I've thought of making a quick video about it before but it just seems kinda narcissistic.
