Zune HD is Alive, It's ALIVE! Wait, What?
Go ahead and scrap your plans to attend the Zune HD's funeral, the device isn't dead after all. We think it isn't, anyway. Actually, we don't know what's going on with the Zune HD, and it seems neither does Microsoft. News spread of the Zune HD's demise when an official support page went live saying Microsoft planned to discontinue the hardware, though it would still offer support. The message? If you're interested in the Zune, go buy a Windows Phone 7 device instead. Not even a day later, Microsoft has pulled the website and is backtracking on its obituary.
"We are still supporting the Zune HD hardware. No official info has been released stating hardware is being discontinued," @ZuneSupport tweeted yesterday.
That's not entirely true. A support page hosted on Zune.net is pretty official, and it clearly stated that "going foward, Windows Phone will be the focus of our mobile music and video strategy, and that we will no longer be producing Zune players." It even went on to ensure customers that if they already placed an order, it would still process and ship. That's not something that needs clarification unless you're discontinuing a device.
In any event, the Zune HD is back among the living, either because Microsoft pulled a 180, or simply because it wants to purge its warehouses of existing inventory before it officially lays the Zune HD to rest. Either way, this isn't the first time the Zune has risen from the dead, and might not be the last.

It looks asthough Zune.net has pulled the Zune HD off it's products page.

not often I see "herr Doktor" used... Nice to see HE's still alive. ;-) He's been my avatar in many places for more than a decade. Excellent flick.
as for the Zune... wonder if we will see a "phone-less windows phone" replacement of it similar to the ipod touch or the samsung galaxy player?

likely the latter -too much inventory and they do not wish to discount the item
so keep the zune as a regular product for a bit longer under inventory drops then pull the plug again
Lets see where we are after the holiday season- probably a new announcement and all the rest of the inventory being blown out at third party sites like geeks
