Zalman Rolls Out Triple Fan CNPS12X Air Cooler
Zalman's latest approach to air cooling is to pound away at the problem of heat building with three -- yes, THREE -- 120mm Long Life Bearing fans with blue LEDs. The triple fan configuration comes standard on Zalman's new CNPS12X, a hulk-sized air cooler measuring 151mm (L) x 132mm (W) x 154mm (H) weighing 1kg, or just over 2.2 pounds.
As is becoming common in high end air coolers, the CNPS12X employs direct contact heatpipes that come in contact with the CPU. There are six composite heatpipes in all, each one running from one set of aluminum fins down through the base and up through another set of fins. The three fans are placed on the front, rear, and sandwiched in between the dual heatsink structure.
Zalman includes a tube of ZM-STG2 "Super Thermal Grease" with the CNPS12X, and mounting brackets for Intel's LGA 2011, 1156, 1155, 1366, and 775 sockets, and AMD's FM1, AM3+, AM3, AM2+, and AM2 sockets.
No word on price or availability.

Well, It's out now, time to do a review, no?
Majority of reviews I've seen in the past are done with Intel boards. It's almost as if AMD boards don't matter. Or if you're just that kind of person, you probably think AMD chips are just going to melt down anyhow, so it doesn't matter if they do have a cooler or not.
I'd like to know if this cooler will fit AMD's 990FX boards clearing all four RAM slots safely while keeping that ultra hot FX chip nice and comfy under load.... Don't let me down!

Their specs look interesting. Low noise 22-24db at 850-1200 rpm. Also they mention some sort of variable fin technology. Might actually sound pretty quiet.

I think Jerry Seinfeld would say it best: "Why don't they just make the whole thing out of the heatpipe"????

There is spinning at the same speed and spinning at the same speed. Unless they're spinning at EXACTLY the same speed, isn't there a chance of the fans creating added noise (and vibration) via harmonics?

The only problem with this is that it will crush your CPU, kick your video card in the face, and eat your memory for breakfsast.

So if one of the fans is spinning in a different direction than the others, wouldn't that create a dead spot? Also, if they are all running in the same direction, if they are not constantly in sync, wouldn't that create turbulence (and heat and noise)?

All of them are the same size and spin at the same speed in the same direction.

Anyone thinking about the implications of making CPU ISH and aftermarket heatsinks out of GRAPHENE? Apparently it's going to be cheap and is the BEST thermal conductor on the planet.
I'm very curious how graphene based cooling will fare.

New tech research is unfortunately slow (from consumer perspectives, anyways). No point in hoping for it, even when MaxPC or some science journal has an article/paper on it... Until a company announces an actual product, consider it impossible.

That's nice. But I have to say that I'm rather content with my $20 212+.

Bingo. So am I. I remember being a little intimidated with installing it at first but as it turned out it was rather pretty simple.

That's pretty trippy looking. Wonder what the noise factor will be with 3 fans.

I want. That thing is a beast. Although instead of having that fan in the middle I would rather a small fan that is on the cpu plate just blowing air straight up. That would keep the plate cool and the other two fans are for when things get really ridiculous
