YouTube Negotiating to Stream Rental Movies

It's too early to tell if a deal is in the making, but YouTube is at least talking to several major movie studios about the possibility of streaming feature films as rentals, CNet reports.
Studios said to be discussing licensing agreements with YouTube include Sony, Lions Gate Entertainment, and Warner Brothers. But at least one studio exec who claims to be familiar with the talks said no deals are imminent and that having these discussions isn't out of the ordinary.
"Why wouldn't the studios talk to YouTube," the exec said.
Why wouldn't they, indeed. With over 100 million viewers, streaming rentals has the potential to be a win-win proposition for both the Google-owned site and the movie studios. It would also be cause for concern for other streaming services, like Hulu.com and Crackle.com.

Bandwidth issues are only

Bandwidth issues are only the tip of the iceburg. Monthly download caps will prevent this from being a viable service. American's have it easy with their 250GB/month caps... here in Ontario, my cap is 60GB/month.

This will be great as long

This will be great as long as the infrastructure can keep up with the demand, I don't know how many times I've tried watching HD on youtube just to keep getting the Buffering crap when I have a steady 6 Mbit connection. Granted it is a small price to pay for the HD, but it's kind of annoying -_-
Try DSL

Try DSL if you think you have it bad. I think all this streaming stuff will fail the connection system in USA is the worst.
Actually I am on DSL, but

Actually I am on DSL, but I'm lucky enough to have great lines and live pretty close to the CO.

My problem with my DSL (AT&T) is it drops out momentarily and if i am in the middle of a movie i loose the stream i have to start all over. Until they find a better delivery system i am out.
