Your Choice of Fixes If Vista's Search Indexer Stops Working

Ouch! Search Indexer's Down, and So Are You!
If you've ever seen the "Microsoft Windows Search Indexer has stopped working" box, you know you're in for a rough day. Up to this point, the only solution has been to delete the search index and rebuild the search index. Now, though, there's a solution.
Enter KB952093 - at Least for Downloading
As reported at the My Digital Life blog (and elsewhere), Microsoft now offers a fix for this problem. You can download the update for 32-bit Vista editions here, and the 64-bit version here. Although the update is identified as KB952093, the actual KB article is not available yet. To see a link to the article (or to an error message), click the link offered on either download page.
A Better Solution Ends with "4.0"
The posting on My Digital Life suggests an even better solution - upgrade to Windows Search 4.0! Error message figure courtesy of My Digital Life
