You Should Probably Pre-Order Left 4 Dead 2

We usually use this space to write about videogames. We’re hardly advice columnists. But believe us when we – as your friends – advise you to quit dilly-dallying and just preorder Left 4 Dead 2 already. Valve’s sweetened the pot time and time again, and we’ll be damned if it isn’t starting to smell mighty fine.
Early bird gets the worm, so they say, but Valve’s taking it a few steps further. Here, said tech-savvy bird will nab an exclusive melee weapon (the American baseball bat), early access to the Left 4 Dead 2 demo, and 10% off the game.
If more purchases came with free baseball bats, this world would be a much more zombie-free place. Granted, our planet’s tree population might also suffer a bit, but as we all know, if the zombies win, deforestation won't be far off.
So how much...

I'll probably pre-order it too. Of course, I work for Microsoft, so they'll hand me a copy a week or so before it hits the street anyway. (Best Buy vs Microsoft = Really? lol)
I liked Left 4 Dead...

...I think I will go ahead and pre-order it. On the plus side, I'll get it at a discount, I work for Best Buy.
Yeah, no.

I probably would, but sadly Left 4 Dead was such a pitiful dissapointment, basically made me lose faith in Valve games, not that any of them were ever actually good, just the common place linear shooter with a brain dead protaganist, nothing too special.
Boycotting for two
Submitted by Modred189 on Sat, 10/03/2009 - 10:13am
Boycotting for two reasons:
1: I do feel a bit screwed over after the whole L4D1 thing. TF2 gets DLC out the rear, and L4D gets next to nothing, and they cost the same amount.
2: I'm in law school and do not have time anyway.

I did not say there was NO
Submitted by Modred189 on Sat, 10/03/2009 - 5:25pm
I did not say there was NO DLC, just that there is a lot less than for TF2. There has really only been two sets of dlc: The new Crash Course pack and the original lSurvivor Pack DLC which enabled survivor mode. The enabling of custom maps was just a continuation of the SDK which released with the game. Furthermore, Gabe's promises from E3 have been somewhat hollow. I mean, he said something hinting at more content in the "coming months' and the Crash Course is the first we've seen since, nearly 4 months ago. And the promised interoperability has come and gone from favor several times since his comments at E3.
Compare that with expanded weapons assortments, earned upgrades, drops, maps, new campaigns and types and fun hats in TF2, and it's just not the same.
And keep in mind that I love ALL Valve game, L4D included, but I'm using my wallet to show how I feel. The same as I have with Ubisoft and the SHAFTING they gave PC buyers of Prince Of Persia, and denying them the DLC while giving it to consoles. This, as opposed to just moaning on some steam group.
And what's with your caps? Is that supposed to mean something?
Its just supposed to mean

Eh, I'm going to buy L4D 2
Submitted by I Jedi on Sat, 10/03/2009 - 8:09pm
Eh, I'm going to buy L4D 2 because I know its going to be a great game to play; However, I wish that Valve would come out with HL2:EP 3 already. Personally, I think it could of held off for quite longer on making another L4D game, but I am not running Valve, Gabe Newell is running the show.
Consider this...

You have this game with no real storyline or plot... you realize that you can change the models, keep everything else... and repackage it as a new game.
OR
you can spend all this time creating a storyline, scenario's, new creatures, puzzles and waste alot of man ours... which one is more cost-effective and generate revenue in an ailing industry (PC Gaming).
I'd rather wait for the

I'd rather wait for the inevitable half-off weekend sale. I don't care how long it takes, the original L4D didn't hold my interest for very long, so I can wait.
