Good commercial. Funny

Yes, and desktop Linux is the answer for all your Windows 8 frustrations. Face it, MSlovers, your winphone is even less relevant than the Linux Desktop (with something like 1% marketshare, even though windows mobile has been trying so hard since winCE and dropping billions every few years (I'm looking at you Kin*)).

* why is it so hard to google kin amidst all the other billion dollar Microsoft phone write offs?

avatar

PCLinuxguy

ok then crApplpe iFan we get it. every OS sucks except yours.. /sarcasm

avatar

wumpus

Nope. Just an old Linux desktop user who is vastly amused at how such a system that has been dead as a doornail for years somehow keeps one working just fine. The analogy is quite specific: everything I've heard implies that winphones are perfectly fine. They just don't have the aps available, they never will, and they will never perform to Microsoft's satisfaction (i.e. 100% marketshare(or even 51% marketshare)).

avatar

PCLinuxguy

my apologies then. I just don't buy the market share crud that everyone likes to toss around. for linux it's extremely hard to get a reliable count, but it would appear to me that it's far beyond 1% like everyone wants to believe. :-)

avatar

The Mac

hahahaha

just saw the add during the voice...

its even funnier on a full size tv...

lol

avatar

Revilo26

While I wouldn't buy a Windows phone this is hilarious...Kudos Microsoft!!

avatar

RUSENSITIVESWEETNESS

I didn't realize Microsoft was still trying to make phones. LOL.

Maybe they should concentrate on making operating systems without the suck.

avatar

jgottberg

Hilarious - well, at least I was pretty amused :)

The colors on those phones are garish and that's coming from a colorblind dude. lol

I know I'm in the minority here but I actually like the Windows phones (especially the Nokia) a LOT. I hope it succeeds if for no other reason than choice.

avatar

maxeeemum

Yep! The colors are garish! Just like the keyboards for the "Surface"! I don't get it?

Unless something changes I don't see WP8 gaining much market share.

avatar

jgottberg

lol! Why anyone would want a yellow felt keyboard is beyond me. I have a black one for my surface and after 3 days of use, it looks like utter hell because of the material it is made out of (felt?). At least I didn't pay for it. lol

I agree... iOS and Android have such a large share, they have almost become standards by proxy. The momentum is totally in their favor.

avatar

ApathyCurve

If you get a Windows phone, you'll certainly spend a lot of your time fighting... to keep it working.

Worst electronic device I ever owned. Never again.

avatar

iheartpcs

MS commercials are all about misdirection. Show people dancing their asses off so we don't see how bad the product is.

avatar

Ledoubleu

"They also appear to be the only two out of a crowd of about 100 toting Windows Phone devices, so kudos to Microsoft for keeping things accurate, even if unintentional".

Loved the ad but the closet socialist in me loves the fact that the 2 working people at this gathering are using a Windows Phone.

avatar

kamikaji

Behind the scenes, the Microsoft Windows Phone platform is a hardened gangster. It collects licensing fees from every android handset built. Fucking Micro$hit Mafia.

Not so loving now, eh?

avatar

AETAaAS

I personally don't have a problem with Windows Phone since the last one I used was Windows Mobile 6.1 and latterly just grew comfortable on Android.

But what you will tend to see on the internet is, yes Android and iOS users dump on each other. But if there is anything they come together on, it's that they both dump on Windows Phone. :p

avatar

maxeeemum

When I watched this "so called" ad one thing stands out for me. Why would anyone buy a bright yellow or red phone?

All the current M$ ads draw a big question mark for me lately! Like dancing with a "Surface"! LOL!!!

avatar

big_montana

For the same reason someone buys a yellow or red car?

avatar

maxeeemum

Not really! Most phones around here at least are black mostly, silver, grey and some white. Even bright yellow cars are few in my area.

avatar

The Mac

You know that guy just got that apple tat to try to get laid....

lol

avatar

TheMissingPiece

I thought this ad was pretty funny. I tend to sway toward the Android side, but I was disappointed that the Apple crowd didn't throw more insults at the Samsung guys! C'mon! Nothing about plastic bodies?

avatar

lindethier

I liked it. Would be nice if they could have said something more of the features that WP offers over the others, but I think it was good.

avatar

Renegade Knight

That commercial was classic.

avatar

Mikey109105

Windows Phone is a joke. Why companies invest in it is beyond me, because they NEVER SELL. Go with Android or, as much as it pains me to say, iOS.

avatar

Nixon

They probably get it at a better discount as well as the software that comes with it. Even though some of the software is free to us for personal use, I think they have to buy a license to use it.
Cut corners to save money and the Microsoft brand practically being a de facto standard in business and you have yourself a possible reason.

avatar

Sirius

Not to mention that the only company that can sell a device with iOS on it is Apple themselves.

avatar

maverick knight

You would be surprise on how many people will be interested on this phone just for this commercial. The idea of the ad is not to prove that is better than Apple or Samsung but to just simply put the word out of its existence. Because the ad will make people laugh they will be talking about it and there it is; the ad did its job. Now people will take at least a look at what the lumia has to offer.

Its uniqueness makes this phone appealing.

avatar

ChuvelxD

Haters are gonna hate.

Windows Phone is the fastest growing OS in the United States and currently has it's highest market share ever. People are adopting it even if haters scream they aren't.

Funny commercial, this is how iOS users see Android users and Android users see iOS users. You could practically take this conversation for any blog or forum with the two.

avatar

Hey.That_Dude

You realize the "Fastest Growing" argument doesn't really make any sense, right? You should study population graphs. Then think on why WP being "the fastest growing" means nothing.

Hint: Here's a comic to help explain why https://xkcd.com/1102/ Have fun!

avatar

ChuvelxD

-Double post, whoops.

avatar

evertroy

All I got out of that was Nokia makes a phone with squares on the screen.... I don't have a clue what makes that phone better than the Iphone or Galaxy based on watching that commercial.

I wonder if Peter Klein had anything to do with the financing of this commercial. I would quit after this one too.

Microsoft = irrelevant

avatar

Engelsstaub

Thought I was the only one with a tat like that. Come at me.

Srs: commercial was kinda funny, but there's a reason why nobody would fight about Windows Phones though: those were two of the three people that even own one.

avatar

dwellman

Yeah. I like being unique: not following the ios, aos lemmings. . .

avatar

evertroy

How are your app choices? Do you like going places that have signs in their windows and services that don't support your phone? How easy is it to find accessories for your device? Is it really worth it?

Poor
Nobody supports Windows Phone
Overpriced at the dealer, Amazon is the only place
Not at all

avatar

Engelsstaub

"Unique" is one way to describe people who feel their phones define who they are.

avatar

The Mac

my sarcasm detector just went off

lol

avatar

Mayhemm

And who says there's no truth in advertising?

avatar

The Mac

hahahahaha...

thats funny...

The old guy under the table trying to get siri to search Karate...classic...

avatar

Nixon

Lol, I like it. Seems accurate enough with every idiot simultaneously having to take a picture.
