Windows Phone 7 Gets Multitasking, Twitter Integration, and More
At Mobile World Congress today in Barcelona, Microsoft announced some of its plans to update Windows Phone 7 in 2011. Over the course of the year, the company has plans to roll out a number of updates to the operating system, offering several new features including:
- Copy and paste functionality via first major update, coming in the next month
- Twitter integration directly into the People Hub in 2011
- Support for Office documents in the cloud in 2011
- Dramatically enhanced Web browser experience based on IE9 in 2011
- A new wave of multitasking applications in 2011
“We’re in the race – it’s not a sprint but we are certainly gaining momentum and we’re in it for the long run,” said Achim Berg, a corporate vice president in Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business and Marketing Group. “We know we have tough competition, and this is a completely new product. Our design is different, our platform is different, our customer experience is different, and our long-term strategy for earning widespread adoption is different.”
Microsoft announced a partnership with Nokia last week. As part of the partnership, the mobile phone maker will be focusing on making Windows Phone 7 smartphones, and will offer feedback on the OS to Microsoft.

I like everything there, only I could care less for Twitter integration. Office cloud would be really useful for school.

I'm looking for Outlook sync. And the usual power of Office Mobile of Windows Mobile. Not the cut down limited version of Office for WP7.
Plus the flexibility of installing and using my current apps from Windows Mobile. At least until all of these apps are upgraded to WP7 versions.
Until these few features are available, i simply can't jump into WP7 yet.
