I care so little for windows 8 I don't even want it for free.

Eh... well it isnt just the non bootable n version.... ALL of the versions are now in the wild. All confirmed to work. The only thing is the activation is not cracked... yet.

M$ did this on purpose. To see how fast it is picked up by the leech community to determine how hyped the is is based off the torrents activitiesthis data can be equated to the prospective sales from legit buyers.

Is this the right place to discuss getting free copies of Windows??

Cuz ya know...

Both (32 and 64 bit) Windows 7 RTM 30 day free trial copies can be used forever without buying them and without ANY hacks

If you have a Portable Western Digital drive laying around, you even get the backup utility for free. The one that works with Windows 7 trial copies without breaking the timeout on restored copies so you can use 7 forever and for free

simply download a free copy of Acronis for Western Digital drives (free) then install a clean copy of Windows 7 RTM trial (no serial needed) with all your drivers and settings the way you like and back it up with acronis

You can back up an SSD or a seagate or whatever you want as long as you have a western digital connected as well when using the free copy of acronis

Then simply use the rearming feature (Microsoft approved - Not a Hack) to get additional 30 day trials untill it expires in 4 months

Now restore a good working copy of the trial again and use the rearm when needed

Um... You can just run it normal windows 7 without activation. You will get "windows is not genuine" but you still get important updates.

I wouldn't want to put up with that

But more importantly, Microsoft has shown that getting all the important updates means opening up a major security hole that is called Microsoft Update

Why wait to find out that the Gov't had spyware like FLAME on your computer for the past 3 years when your FREE copy of Windows 7 can force you to put a CLEAN copy on your machine every 3 - 4 months

It only takes 2 minutes to restore a clean copy

It's better to be safe than Microsoft'

(That was a Joke)

This seems easy to get

Not suspicious at all

and none of the commenters seems to be advertising it

oh, they are?

still not suspicious

Move along

I've just downloaded+installed it onto a 32gb laptop msata.

This thing is blistering fast! I'm sitting pretty on a sub-10 second boot, and that includes bios.

Haters gonna hate, and that's their loss.

Would somebody please leave the obligatory comment expounding on the "Windows Good Release/Bad Release-Cycle Theory?"

Windows 3.1x (1992) - Good
Windows 95 (1995) - Mixed bag, at the beginning it sucked
Windows 98 (1998) - Good
Windows ME (2000) - Sucked (hard)
Windows XP (2001) - Good
Windows Vista (2006) - Sucked although not as hard as ME
Windows 7 (2009) - Good
Windows 8 (2012?) - ???

On these lists I do not see Windows 2000 Pro, which was probably the best Windows OS ever released until Microsoft started burying features within wizard interfaces.

Formedras

Win2K wasn't a consumer OS.
Oh, and Vista was good after SP1.

avatar

Engelsstaub

Thanks, vistageek. I just knew there must be a "new" one on every Windows 8-related article.

siramic

lol, ;-)

No problem, I gotcha covered haha. It's kinda funny, I made my account here at max pc when I was beta testing vista, and I was quite the youngen' at the time. I'm kinda waiting for the day when no one remembers what vista was so I don't look like a vistaholic or something on these forums. And vista was good after the service pack.

I'm one of the two people here who owns a Mac so don't worry about how you look. ;) I doubt I have many admirers based on past comments and exchanges here. (I just don't dislike Apple as much a some and use multiple OSes.)

...but I agree: Vista was ok after they smoothed it out a bit. I never had any major problems with it and it was my only OS for a year or two.

Just because it's on the file share sites, does that mean anyone will actually download it early, or at all? The types of people most likely to download an RTM or cracked windows build are exactly the kind of people (read US) who have already declared this thing a turd.

I've come to expect Windows to leak well before it's release these days. It inevitable.

avatar

fx2006

Unfortunately its not even worth downloading for free.. Waste of time and bandwidth.

avatar

Zoandar

I wonder if M$ themselves leaked it, to gain publicity and also to try to gain the interest of the apparently large crowd who has flatly stated they won't upgrade. M$ may think a free shot at trying the developed version costs them less than all the potentially lost sales. And there might even be some sort of timed self-deactivation in the leaked copy, so it becomes inoperable after a "trial period".

Rofl is anyone surprised ? Lol lol lol.
