Windows 8? Nevermind Ballmer, Microsoft Says
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, has always been one to speak his mind – just check out his classic "Developers! Developers!" rant. Microsoft's PR department must have done a collective facepalm when Steve addressed a legion of developers! in Japan on Monday. "As we progress through the year, you ought to expect to hear a lot about Windows 8. Windows 8 slates, tablets, PCs, a variety of different form factors," Steve said enthusiastically, presumably with sweat stains underneath his armpits. Windows 8 in 2012? That's big news!
To paraphrase the clarification Microsoft issued today: Yeah... erm... nevermind. Steve just says things sometimes.
ZDNet reports the the official line is that there hasn't been a release announcement for Windows 8, and in fact, the company is "eagerly awaiting the next generation of Windows 7 hardware that will be available in the coming fiscal year."
Basically, "Shut up, Steve." The clarification comes as no surprise; official news of Windows 8 on the horizon could stall Windows 7 sales as people wait for the new OS. Still, the whole thing's funny – either Microsoft's CEO was full of crap, or he was divulging critical company secrets. And he's in charge!

Windows 8 is a lot faster than 7 already with hybrid boot; the animation doesn't get halfway through before my computer finishes booting. Portable workspace is absolutely amazing and I've been able to be a LOT more productive having all my programs and settings on a portable USB disk. Windows 8, if released today, would be like a super 7.

Quit hating on Steve, you Mac fans are willing to do anything to draw attention away from Steve Jobs and Apple. :)

He's just a figurehead. A name and a face that people can slander and flame. Just like Obama.
Everything is run by the patriots anyway....

Don't turn this in to a political rant. Take it to the forums if you're going to do that!
