Windows 7 Officially the Fastest Selling OS in History
Pause for a moment and count to 10. All finished? Assuming you counted in accurate 1-second increments, Microsoft sold 70 more copies of Windows 7 by the time you finished. All tallied, the software juggernaut from Redmond has sold over 150 million license of Windows 7 to date, making it the fastest selling OS in history with 7 copies sold every second, Windows Communications Manager Brandon LeBlanc wrote in a blog post.
"Approximately 75 percent of enterprises are looking at Windows 7 for their organization, and of course people continue to be excited about the features and benefits of Windows 7, and the PCs that our partners are delivering for Windows 7," LeBlanc added.
Back in March, Microsoft said it sold 90 million copies of Windows 7 before updating that number to 100 on April 23, just two months ago. At the current pace, Microsoft is unloading more than 25 million copies of its flagship consumer OS every month and is on track to sell 300 million Windows 7 licenses by the end of 2010.
So much for the death of the PC.

I still have to make the jump. I might keep one XP machine (an Athlon XP 2700+ running on the legendary A7N8X-E Deluxe) but my 'main' machine and the next one (which should be in before year's end) should get the 7 treatment. So count 2 more copies soon.

I could see the future back in October, when I received and hosted Windows 7 houseparty.
Thanks MaximumPC for notifying me. And many thanks to Houseparty and Microsoft!

Not doubting the fact, but since there are a lot of computers in the world now then when XP came out, there are a lot more computers to upgrade to Win 7 and more being sold

There may be more computers, but not all can run Win7. A lot of the computers out there are more than 3+ years old or older and will not be able to run Win7 effectively. So the fact that Win7 has sold so many copies is indeed a big deal and a great reason for people to upgrade their out dated computers. The anticipation of Win7 was the driving force behind building my last computer. The best thin Microsoft did was realizing that they made a mistake with Vista; going back to the drawing board and getting it right.

I agree that there are more PC's now as opposed to when XP was released, but Win 7 is being picked up pretty darn fast.
