Windows 7 Fastest Selling OS Ever
Windows 7, which was launched on October 22, 2009, has since sold more than 100 million licenses and can now be found on one of every 10 PCs in the world. According to Microsoft, that's enough to qualify as the fastest selling Windows OS in the Redmond company's history.
The rapid adoption of Windows 7 has paid off big time for Microsoft, who earlier this week reported revenues of $14.5 billion for the financial quarter ended March 31. Windows revenue was up 23 percent year-on-year, and according to Microsoft CFO Peter Klein, the OS "continues to be a growth engine."
Helping the new OS gain a foothold into so many PCs is the willingness of IT admins to make the transition. Recent research suggests that nearly half of all IT departments are looking to migrate to Windows 7, which certainly wasn't the case six months after Vista launched.

Let's see how Win7 fares with Google's search results..
"Windows 7 kicks ass" = ~18,700
"Windows 7 sucks ass" = ~6,200
"Windows 7 rocks" = ~137,000
"Windows 7 sucks" = ~83,300
I like Win7. I also liked Vista after Service Pack 1. But I still love XP. Almost 9 years old and still used. I think its funny that M$ keeps saying they're gonna end support, only to turn around and extend it (as of now for almost 4 more years).

I think the fanboi has multiple accounts - Windows 7 sucks arse compared to XP and only M$ and the fanbois say different.

lol, please get some knowledge before you open your mouth, you silly goose.
XP is from 2001, and it is most certainly not better than Windows 7 at anything, barely better than Vista. It is time to move on, unless you ofcourse still at stuck with a years old computer, which you probably are.

....and I still think XP is by FAR the better of the two OS's.....now if you happen to be one of the, "my computer is really just an entertainment system"...then by all means go out and buy Win 7. However, if you want a mature, stable, secure OS, with none of the A/V cr*p, getting in the way....then stick with XP. It's not MY fault that MS forces OEM's to sell new comps with Win 7.....but thats no reason to defend it. I've done my own bench marks on identical systems, XP vs Win 7....and I see no competition. But if you desire fighting with an OS to get the simplest thing done, by all means, buy Win 7.

How do you conclude that XP is more stable than 7? For that matter Vista?
What the fuck are you using your computer for?
You might as well just go back to 64 mb ram and Windows 95 then you fucking idiot.

Windows Seven does indeed kick ass, I love my Windows 7 Ultimate install. There however, just one niggling little thing that really irks me. Why does Microsoft keep screwing over Canadian Windows Media Centre Users? Every other country in the world can get access to HD content, why can't we. There is currently no way to get ANY HD Content in Canada, at least without using a workaround. All I want is Microsoft to stop disabling OTA and QAM for Canada and let us use our ATSC TV tuners with WMC. We paid for the full Windows Package lock stock and barrel, so give us our money's worth and stop castrating Windows Media Centre. For Canadians this is a glaring black eye on the technological landscape and we will not stand and let Microsoft rob us blind.

How does Windows know it's in Canada? If you told it, it's your fault. If you bought a special Canadian version, buy a regular one abroad.

Finally, we are seeing fewer negative comments. Windows 7 kicks a**. Anybody claiming otherwise hasn't used it or is a diehard fan(loser living in mom and dads basement)boy (just try to deny it while you are lying in bed alone tonight). I removed my Ubuntu partition on my computer a few weeks after installing W7. With Vista I needed Ubuntu for a few tasks. With W7 I don't.

Hmm first come out with a crappy OS, wait until everyone buys it, then come out with an acutally decent one, and make people buy that one all over again. Brilliant market strategy.

100% agree. Could you imagin this same ideal happening in everything else? What if Ford decided to sell 2 years worth of broken cars then screamed how high sales were from the working version the following year. The only reason Microsoft can get away with this kind of buisness model is due to the monopoly they control. Win7 should have been free for anyone with a vista liscence.

Yeah, if they actually had some competition, they would not be able to release subpar products and make money off it. Here's hoping....

And, we are going 100% Win 7 as fast as we can. It is truly a great OS. We stayed with mostly Xp and now that are still using Xp here complain.
Anyone who says stay with Xp because Win 7 is not better must be an Apple or LInux fanboi.

I work for a business with more than 300 desktop and laptop pc's - not 1 of them has Windows 7. Some were purchased with the license, but downgraded to XP at Dell.
This kind of article is designed to persuade XP users to feel like they should upgrade. Our company is doing just fine with XP. So, those that can think for themselves will do as they decide.

Yes, XP users should upgrade. It's like sticking with a 10 year old car with no locks, rusted paint and the engine on its last legs compared to the modern sports car that would be Windows 7.

Wow. No this kind of article shows how many people have bought 7. People have always done well with XP, but microsoft is gonna stop updating it sooner or later, if they already haven't. XP was legendary, but soon it's gonna be time to move on.

....crack cocaine was probably the fastestselling drug....ever....and look how that worked out.
Windows 7 is still a pratically useless OS, in my opinion....too many people belive what rumors/reviews are posted and do no thinking of their own.

You can't be seriousl You may still be holding on to XP, which is fine and good, but calling it practically useless?!? That's *actually* preposterous. Have you ever even used it?
"too many people belive what rumors/reviews are posted and do no thinking
of their own."Hmm...or maybe millions of people using it and absolutely loving it, based on their OWN experience.
Damnit. I wasted 2 minutes of my time again responding to a "practically useless" post. Gotta stop doin' that.

I agree! I think HE is saying Win7 is useless based on rumors/reviews HE has read! The only useless OS is one installed on hardware provided by Apple. haha.

Have you actually sat down and used it for a day? An hour? At all?
And really, comparing windows to cocaine is pointless. Last time I checked, cops don't raid best buy to remove copies of Windows, and you won't be arrested for carrying a legit copy of Win7.
No offense, but clearly you're one of those people who enjoy going against the norm just because it's the norm, not because it lacks merit. I did thinking of my own, and arrived at the conclusion that 7 is superior to any OS I've ever used before (Including Ubuntu and Kubuntu Linux, XP, Vista, and Win 98). If you don't arrive at the same conclusion, then stick with your OS of choice, but at least give 7 a try.

Kinda misleading in a way because there are definately more computers now than there were when Windows XP came out back around 2002.

... but I wonder how the downgrade rights to XP are figured into that calculation. Right now, I am looking to purchase 10 new computers for an office and the client still wants XP.
I guess Microsoft "sold" the Win7 license .. whether it is being used is not their concern.
