Just this week Western Digital announced their 4TB My Book Studio Edition II.

The 4TB My Book sports two gigantic 2TB HDDs in RAID 0, and will work with both Macs and PCs. You’ll be able to connect this bad boy to your machine using eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 all while consuming up to 30 percent less energy. There’s also a fancy capacity gauge on the front that lets you see how much storage is available at a glance

It’s available now for $649.99.

avatarWow

What I find terrifying is that I'm at the point where I can actually understand the need for that much storage. I'm filling my external hard drives too fast for comfort. But once, I the very idea of this kind of storage seemed utterly ridiculous to me.

My first PC didn't even have a hard drive--it backed up to cassette tape.

4Tb? Wow.

avatarI bet that is morse code on

I bet that is morse code on the back of the enclosure for "ha eat that price point suckers!"  Its kind of a gouge when you aren't implementing new tech, just taping it together.
