Push

I ordered the DROID & should be receiving it tomorrow. I'm upgrading from the XV6800, which I push my Gmail & Yahoo! mail to it. I hope I will still be able to do this on the DROID since I don't actually use Exchange. I just wonder if there is an easy way of syncing my old info (contacts, Tasks, SMS/MMS, Calendar reminders) over to the Droid from my WinMo phone? Is it possible to use google sync on my winmo phone to sync everything over to google & then use google sync on the DROID to copy everything back over to it so I don't have to enter it all in manually?

Why must I correct this?

MaximumPC, why must I, the reader, correct this? You are supposed to be the beacon of knowledge for all. Anyway, what is said in this article about the extra $15 on top of the $30 (for consumers) is wrong. It is still only $30 extra (on top of normal plan calling plan) a month.

Well, now it's a "no go."

We were looking at these as an alternative for the people in our company that wanted iPhones. But not at an extra $15.00 a month for Exchange support. This just isn't going to happen. I think Verizon really shot themselves in the foot by classifying this as a "consumer" phone instead of a business one just so they could get that exta spiff on the price.

 *sigh* I really wnated a phone with a larger keyboard like my old PPC6700. I hate these tiny BlackBerry-style buttons on my current phone. Such a pain in the ass to type with.

No surprise here, as Verizon

No surprise here, as Verizon is the most expernisze carrier on the planet. I looked at jumpping to them last year when my contract with Sprint was up, but could not believe how much my monthly bill would increase. I use Exchange daily for work and ahve both a Blackberry (coporate paid) and a Pre (personal phone) and the BES fee from Sprint is only $20 a month vs. closer to $50 from Verizon. Total plan bill for each device is $65 a month wit unlimited data (this includes the 23% corporate discount I receive, VZ only offers 8%). I have had no problems with Sprint coverage, and I travel all over the world for my job.

No Effect On Me...

I'm sure if it were a more business-based-smartphone, I'd be upset over this as well as everyone else voicing their opinion so far.  Since I have no use for Exchange, however, it has no effect on my opinion, which right now stands as possible - I really want to see it in action first before I even consider it.

You need Exchange support to get push Gmail (I think)

No surprise

This comes as no surprise to me. Verizon is the most money grubbing cell phone company out there. They used to have great customer service, but even that has degraded into a nightmare. In a world where everyone and their brother is switching over to smartphones, verizon is quickly alienating their customer base with overpriced plans and ridiculous fees that just aren't there on other carriers. As soon as my wifes contract is up with verizon we are jumping ship. I could finance a small car for the amount I pay to verizon every month.

 Looks like I'll be sticking with WinMo at $15 a month (yes, on ATT, you can cheat and use the cheapest plan on anything)

VZW Data plan = expensive.... really expensive.

I use exchange daily for work.  I pay for it myself and I absolutely hate vzw cost for "advanced devices" for the 45 dollars a month of data, I don't even get text messages?  Add to that my wife who has the touch pro 2 as well (she has the 30 dollar plan using msn for push mail)  I would have jumped to sprint ages ago for a sero plan or someting, but we don't have sprint in Montana.

 I recently saw new vzw plans with data, unlimited text and pics, but It doesn't apply to "advanced devices".  I have a touch pro 2.  of course they offer great data plans for phones that I would not ever even try to surf the web or do any remote management or anything.  The funny thing is that when I tried to apply for these new plans it said I had to "upgrade" my phone.  LOL.  When I asked them what I should upgrade to they suggested env2.  uggg.

 I can  not wait until some day we get some other carriers in Montana.

Verizon Droid Exchange Fee

I use Exchange every day and I can tell you there is no possible way that I would pay an extra $15 a month to connect up. I currently have no problem connecting for no extra charge on my Palm Pre with Sprint's unlimited data plan. Verizon's data plan alone with the Exchange fee is about 1/3rd of what I am paying for 5 lines with unlimited data, messaging and GPS. Yes I know they have better coverage, but I have yet to have a problem with Sprint in the areas I frequent so it is a non-issue for me. The Pre is working great!
