Walmart Slashes iPhone 3GS Price in Half
Attention Walmart shoppers, the price of the iPhone 3GS 16GB has been cut to $97, a significant price drop from the $199 it was selling for prior to today.
The aggressive price cut is undoubtedly in anticipation of Apple's upcoming iPhone 4G announcement, which you can expect during the Worldwide Developer Conference on June 7. What isn't as clear, however, is whether Walmart is simply trying to rid itself of 3GS inventory, or if this will become the new entry-level iPhone model in a couple of weeks.
Walmart's price cut comes a little earlier than most probably expected, but isn't too surprising when you consider that a couple of iPhone 4G prototypes turned up in the wild and were posted online for all the world to see.
