Verizon Won't Carry Nexus One, Google offers HTC Incredible as Alternative
Those that were waiting for the Verizon edition of the Nexus One might have to reevaluate things today. The Google phone portal today changed their wording regarding the Verizon Nexus One. Where it previously stated the Nexus would be available on Big Red in the Spring, it now says, "For Verizon's network, you can buy the Droid Incredible by HTC."
Google later responded to questions about the change about the change, making it clear the Nexus One wasn't headed to Verizon at all. It read:
"We won't be selling a Nexus One with Verizon, and this is a reflection of the amazing innovation happening across the open Android ecosystem. Verizon Wireless customers who want an Android phone with the power of the Nexus One can get the Droid Incredible by HTC."
It's odd that Google is promoting a phone like the Incredible that runs the custom HTC Sense interface on Android. They have traditionally focused more on stock Android phones, but this may just speak more to their closeness with HTC. It's unclear if the final decision to kill off the Verizon Nexus One was Google's or Verizon's. Verizon is a CDMA carrier, which gives them final say over what devices will be registered to run on their network. It could be they just wanted to focus completely on the Droid Incredible.
Was anyone still waiting for the Nexus on Big Red? Will you just go for the Incredible instead?

Honestly, I am waiting to see what WP7 will do in the market. I would like to see WP7 on the Verizon Network.
Electronically charged

Verizon says they'll have the Nexus One, and now they say they won't. Dammit, why the hell do they get people's hopes up like that? That phone was the first one I've actually wanted for a long time now, and I can't switch to AT&T because Verizon finds ways to extend my contract!
Allright, the rant's over

I waited long enough. I preordered the Incredible today; time to move off of AT&T and get rid of the one Apple product I allowed in my life.

Woah a comment that passed the MaxPC content filter. I thought that using the word "think" would cause the post to reject.

Incredible > Nexus One in just about every way. Think of it "as" the Nexus One for VZW's CDMA network.

Why must it always come down to inferior phone on superior network, or superior phone on inferior network? Isn't it possible to have both? I left T-mobile because of huge service area gaps. I am leaving AT&T because they are constantly dropping calls (plenty of service coverage, but I usually end up calling the person I am talking to back at least 5 times over a 30 minute call). I was holding out for the Nexus One on Verizon… it appeared to be the best phone available on the best network available. I am very disappointed by this piece of news. Perhaps my dream of a near perfect phone with a near perfect carrier is akin to hoping for an iPhone without Apple.

They're relatively equivalent phones, but I prefer the plain jane Android UI to the Sense UI and there's no denying that the case and form of the N1 is much sexier than the Droid Incredible.
