and yet were I am all they offer for internet is Dial-up because my city is unincorporated and somewhat rural in California and they don't want to work on updating there network for more DSL or even upgrade all the area to fiber. So I am stuck on a broadband connection at home that has a very low cap of 75GBs a month and I can't use services like netflix without the risk of going of the cap. I even heard that verizon tried to offer people in my area 3G internet for there home internet and it still has the 5GB per month cap.

Well, with that little profit, I understand why they have to charge the hardware upgrade fee.
