Verizon Experiencing Third Nationwide Outage This Month
Verizon Wireless has made a name for itself by being rock-solid and having a huge 3G network. Things have been a bit more rocky since its 4G LTE network started taking off. Today, Big Red is having its third nationwide data outage in the month of December. Customers across the U.S. are reporting no 4G, and often no 3G data either.
It took Verizon a little bit to respond to the avalanche of customer complaints, but it has now started handing out a standard bit of PR. “We are investigating reports of some customers experiencing trouble accessing the 4GLTE network. The network itself continues to operate and all customers continue to be able to make calls, send text messages and utilize data services. 3G devices are operating normally,” the statement reads. We can personally dispute that data services remain accessible.
Verizon has been working on a big push to get users to upgrade to the 4G network, but perhaps the carrier has over-estimated its back-end capacity. Some users have speculated that the issue is with authentication of devices. In the meantime, sound off in the comments and let us know how your 4G is working.

Nothing like spending $300 to replace my OG Droid with the Rezound (woulda gotten the Nexus, but you guys neutered it), and other than the first weekend (2 weeks ago) , I have had 1x since then.

Not something I care about, as 2G AT&T was forced upon me. You see that little empty space on the Verizon map? Yeah. LIGHT BLUE FTW!

Greater Chicago. Incredibly spotty LTE (not in my house but outside when both worked before). Lots of dropping back to 1x (no 3G? Grr!)

So you're cool with paying exorbitant prices for a service that only works intermittently? Excellent, because I need more money and you appear to have plenty. Start sending me $100 a month please. I'll provide you with some sort of non-specific service at some point. Probably.

Actually since I get paid with tax dollars....YOU actually pay my cell phone bill.
How does that feel troll?
Also Verizons LTE network has been down for a collective 136 hours during the whole YEAR. Id hardly call that intermitten.
STOP TROLLING FOR UNICORNS!

Portland Oregon area. Lost all data connectivity yesterday (Galaxy Nexus), but a reboot fixed it. Lost it again today just a few minutes ago, rebooted just now...still down. I noticed yesterday that my battery usage shot through the roof when I lost my connection - phone was probably constantly looking for a data signal, boosting the signal, etc. Gonna plug in my phone now just in case...
