Verizon Accidentally Confirms "Droid Incredible" Launch April 29th
The HTC Incredible has been rumored for a debut on Verizon for several months now, and today we got the first sure sign. Verizon itself allowed an internal staging page for the "Droid Incredible" to go live for all to see. The page was only accessible temporarily, as Big Red locked the page back down soon after anyone noticed; it now requests a password to access. Accidental leak, or cunning marketing ploy?
The Droid Incredible (with new Verizon compatible naming scheme) is an Android phone running a Sense UI version of Android 2.1 (Éclair). If you believe the previous leaks, it will be sporting very similar hardware to the Nexus One with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and AMOLED touchsceeen at 480x800. The Incredible does add a 8MP camera instead of the Nexus' 5MP cam. It also has the trackpad in place of a trackball, a theme on newer HTC Android handsets.
No pricing details were available on the leaked page. The Droid Eris was just listed as end of life, presumably to make way for the Incredible, but we expect the price to be higher than that of the Eris. Any Verizon customers planning to pick one up? Where do you think Verizon should price it?

Damn, I just bought the Eris... What does it mean if they are to End Of Life (EOL) the Eris? Did I make a mistake by not waiting for this bad boy?

Free with new 2year contract. Sounds great to me. We have Qwest phone service and they offer satalite and cellphone service through Verizon. We called Verizon and they offered two Android phones with 2000minutes and data plans with 500 text messages a month on a family account bundled with the home land line phone and sat tv. So the total cost would be about $250bucks a month for everything. As for internet Cricket has a 3G modem with an unlimited connection for $49 bucks a month. Not bad considering other carriers think unlimited stops at 5gigs.

If they EOL the Eris I could see them dropping the Droid to the Eris' pricepoint of $99 and putting the Droid Incredible at the Droid's old pricepoint of $199. Personally I won't touch anything with an AMOLED screen as of yet, at least unless I can confirm that it isn't as PenTile display.

Have you looked at the Nexus One screen in real life? The N1 is my day to day phone right now, and I really feel like it is nearly as good as the Moto Droid in crispness, and much better for colors. I had a Droid for several months and I feel just as happy with the N1 screen. Just something to think about.

My contract with AT&T has been up for a while now. If this thing holds up to reviews and isn't stupid expensive like the Nexus, I may just switch over to Verizon and pick one up.

My post was denied by the spam filter. I pay for a monthly
subscription to MPC, and expect better than to have every post denied. Does the 'speak to the administrator' function go straight to someone's recycle bin, or do you allow it to fester in a file that is deleted every so often without being read?Do
better, MPC.

@cache You don't have to spam the message that your post was denied by the spam filter a bunch of times on different posts. Now, you're really spamming and it would be better to just alert MPC staff in the forums or directly send them a message no need to spam your dissapointment.

The irony is that their sorry excuse for a spam filter blocks meaningful posts but lets the real spam get through. The spam filter has been an issue for a while now and noone has done anything about it. Maybe the new guy can put his foot down and make them get rid of the bullshit spam filter. I would rather see a thousand messages for two dollar nikes then have to alter a post 100 times just to get it past the filter.

Sense of entitlement much? The powers that be over at the magazine don't give a hoot about your access to the website and whether or not the spamtrap is eating your posts. Shoot, they don't even care enough to keep the magazine articles off the site for a couple weeks when the new issue is published so the subscribers get a little bit of exclusive content (if only for a little while). I bet they're still sitting around wondering why subscription numbers have dropped...

I don't like the name, but nontheless, this is a WANT! I've seen the AMOLED screens on the Nexus, and it's a stunning display to say the least.

Actually, the N1's screen is on the poor to terrible side of the spectrum, the Droid's screen destroys it in every way possible. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2010/03/secrets-of-the-nexus-ones-screen-science-color-and-hacks.ars

that ars article is pretty overhyped. it's still a decent screen - though it is quite a battery hog. i'd still prefer it to the droid in general. i have a few friends with droids and they have a hard time with the screen's touch accuracy. wonder when the nexus is going to come out for verizon and what the pricepoint will be since these two seem pretty similar.
