Velocity Micro Rolls Out Next Generation Cruz Tablets

Once upon a time, Velocity Micro made a living building only high end custom PCs, notebooks, and workstations. That type of singular (or triangular, if you will) focus is behind them, and the company now dabbles in eReaders and tablets as well. These mobile devices fall under Velocity Micro's Cruz line, and they've just been updated in preparation for an upcoming relaunch later this month.

The next generation Cruz T408 eReader and T410 tablet devices both feature an "ultra responsive capacitive touchscreen" that's larger than before (8 inches on the T408 and 10 inches on the T410), 1GHz Cortez A8 processor, front-facing camera (Velocity Micro didn't reveal the resolution), 512MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi, microSD card slot, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Other than size, these appear to be the same device and will ship with the same pre-installed software, including Kindle for Android, Amazon Appstore, Angry Birds Rio, and QuickOffice.

Velocity Micro plans to sell the T408 for $240 and the T410 for $300.
