Valve Releases 'Complete Pack' with Left 4 Dead and About a Billion Other Games for $100

If you're anticipating Valve's upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead (and if you're a gamer, then you probably are), then Valve has an offer it hopes you can't refuse. The publisher has released its Valve Complete Pack on Steam, a collection of titles which, if purchased separately, would run $235. Valve's asking price checks in at less than half that at $100.
In addition to Left 4 Dead, the Benjamin buys you Counter Strike, Counter Strike: Condition Zero, Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat, Day of Defeat: Source, Deathmatch Classic, Half Life, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Deathmatch, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Half Life 2: Lost Coast, Half Life Deathmatch: Source, Half Life: Blue Shift, Half Life: Opposing Force, Half Life: Source, Peggle Extreme, Portal, Richochet, Team Fortress 2, and Team Fortress Classic. In other words, enough titles to give your broadband connection a good workout.
Word on the web is that you can gift duplicate titles you already own, but if that's you're intention, you may want to confirm this with Steam before plunking down the cash (we'll post an update if we receive confirmation).
Update November 21, 2008
Four days after sending in our support inquiry, Steam Support has informed us that gifting duplicate titles only applies to a handful of specific situations, none of which appear to include the Complete Pack. More information here.
I bought Half-Life when it

I bought Half-Life when it originally came out. At the time, there was no mention of Steam or Valve taking control of the program years later and modifying it.
I was kind of pissed to find out that whatever Valve does to the original Half-Life through Steam renders the game unplayable on my machine. It only plays if Steam isn't installed. So, I can't have my old Half-Life and Half-Life 2 on my machine at the same time. Sucks.
Don't care for Steam. Don't buy games as downloads. If it's not on a disc, I don't want it. I like to feel I own what I buy, instead of renting it so long as doing so pleases Gabe Newell.
available on disk?

I guess that would defeat the purpose of Steam but I'm a hands-on type of gal. I would love to have all the HL games and Peggle extreme.
I'm not sure about Peggle,

I'm not sure about Peggle, but I know that Half Life 2 and the 2 episode packs are available through retail as discs.

That's really cool, I don't have many of those games (except the half-life 2 games)!
Vista?

Will the older games run under Vista 64? If so this will be a great way to pick some games I missed along the way.
Re-Gifting

When i've purchased Half-Life games off Steam, that include games I already own, I've been able to give my duplicates to someone else (I've been nice and just gave them away) however, I think if I get Left 4 Dead via this pack, I might re-sell the extra games as I have all of them (except for Peggle Extreme)

Actually, according to Steam's support, you can only gift duplicates in very specific circumstances - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656
It may be possible to gift them since the Orange Box is included with the all in one package, but I'm not sure. Either way, its still nice to see them expand gifting duplicates beyond the Orange Box (which was the first package they started this with)
To brc1980 above I'd suggest searching the Steam forums for threads regarding Vista support. From what I've heard some people the games run fine while others have had issues.
Lastly, why isn't this listed under the Gaming News section as well as the main news?
how many gigs is that?

Will that kill my Comcast Bandwidth cap? Or will I get a Cease and Desist notice because I'm downloading so much at once? ISP CEO's and advisors don't think about crap like this...or maybe they do so they can charge customers more...whatever, it's a cool package I think since I don't have any of those games except for Half-Life 1.
No.

Have you already gotten a nastygram from your ISP? Then you have nothing to worry about.

Of course! Companys want a cut of the profit, so they enforce these low bandwidth caps so they can make money.
