U.S. Carriers Promise Faster Devices, Services by Year's End
In today's society, instant gratification is the name of the game, whether we're talking fast food, fast cars, or fast women. So why, then, are our mobile gadgets so slow? That's a good question, and one that's not lost on wireless carriers. In the coming months, several U.S. phone companies will be coming out with faster devices and services.
AT&T, for example, said it is planning to increase home Internet services three-fold, while also doubling up on its wireless network speeds.
"We still have a tremendous amount of opportunity in wireless," John Stankey, AT&T's operations chief said. Stankey isn't buying into reports that the industry will no longer see exponential growth.
And it's not just AT&T. Verizon said it is ahead of schedule in bringing a bunch of high-speed phones to the market. Meanwhile, Verzion continues to build its high-speed network based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology and if all goes to plan, Verizon will offer it to some 100 million customers in 25 to 30 markets by the end of the year.

is developing a Windows Phone 7, the minimum specs for their os is already faster than what most cellphones are currently have. It's no surprise carriers won't carrying any thing less when it comes to smartphones. Hopefully phone like the HD2 for windows mobile will continue just the same.
