Keep telling me why cloud storage is THE WAY TO GO. (also see Dot Com, other photo sites that have closed and all those hacked sites). Until there is legally guaranteed storage and access and far better security, no matter the situation; whether legal actions or corporate failures/closings, I see nothing better than LOCAL storage for security and safety - so long as a user takes smart backup precautions; which is easy using free or purchased software.

I find all the written hoopla about cloud storage to be just that, hoopla; because every writer feels they need to be at the forefront no matter what is really happening. Where are the free thinkers anymore?

Never heard of Posterous. Sorry for those that used the service, but it sounds like there are alternatives. For those that DO use the service, you would/should already know this.

Mr Lilly, responding to trolls does not bolster your position, and claiming you're innocent of writing irrelevant articles for the entire month of February is a weak argument at best. You should already know that.

Scott I think Lilly was simply implying that in this case the proof is in the pudding and that pudding is otherwise free of closure articles for at least 18 whole days. More likely though he's just exchanging friendly banter with a member of the site. I am proof positive that we all feed the trolls from time to time here at the maximumpc website and even weak arguments often induce at least the slightest chuckle even if said chuckle is metaphorical.

*Chuckles Metaphorically*

I don't have an issue with praetor_alpha, who's been a member here for several years.

Also, welcome to the site, Scott586.

Another lie told by twitter. Why am I not surprised? Said twitter "We'll keep it up and running!". Today? "Sorry, but you're fucked, and we don't give a damn." was the general statement. Surely not said that way, but still, that was the general idea.

Someone may have heard about it. Someone may have actually used it lol. It's still technically news.

praetor_alpha, just because you have never hear of it does not mean everyone has not heard of it.
Thank you for the information Mr Lilly. Those of us the HAVE heard of it and HAVE used it AND read MPC will benefit. We won't lose our content at that site. We have been forewarned.

It seems that Mr. Lilly is dedicated to telling us that services we've never heard of are closing.

Just to clarify, I've not reported on any other service closures, obscure or otherwise, for the entire month of February, and probably much longer (nothing immediately comes to mind). Unless you're giving me credit for Justin Kerr's Stickam post.

Either way, that's the beauty of headlines and scroll wheels. ;)

Heh, sorry about that. Too lazy to use the search to find the stickam post.

But still, it is depressing to hear of these things closing when there never was anything else about them here.
