Turtle Beach Unveils New Headsets, Teases Spike TV Announcement
Aesop tried to teach us that slow and steady wins the race and he used a turtle to drive the point home. That's cute, but out here in the real world, companies are blitzing the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with pre-show announcements quick as can be, and that includes Turtle Beach, which unveiled a bunch of new products spanning wireless, mobile, and Dolby Surround Sound technologies.
Turtle Beach's 2012 lineup includes a handful of new headsets, one of which is the Ear Force X42, a pair of wireless cans for the Xbox 360 with Dolby Surround. One rung lower is the Ear Force X32, also a wireless headset but without Dolby. Both sets of cans include 2.4GHz / 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi technology. No word on when these headphones will be available, but Turtle Beach did say the X32 will sell for $100 and the X42 for $160 MSRP.
Also on tap for 2012 is the Ear Force DSS2 Surround Sound Processor for Stereo Headsets. It's an updated model with six variable speaker configurations, offering custom tuned angles. It's available now and is sold alone ($80) or part of several new surround sound wired headset bundles.
For PC gamers, there's the Ear Force Z11 Wired Stereo PC Gaming Headset. It's a $40 headset with acoustically angled 50mm drivers that will ship sometime in 2012.
Turtle Beach also unveiled a bunch of mobile headsets and earbuds, including the Ear Force M5 (40mm drivers, noise isolating ear cups, in-line mic, $50), M3 (40mm drivers, compact fold-flat design, in-line mic, $40), and M1 (noise isolating earbuds, 10mm drivers, in-line mic, $60).
Finally, Turtle Beach said it is partnering with Spike TV to host an exclusive new product reveal that will only be available on the Spike TV "CES ALL ACCESS LIVE" show airing Tuesday, January 10 at 11AM PST. More info here.
