Track Your Dog (or Significant Other) with Garmin's GPS Collar
Fido's an adventurous canine, always out on the prowl looking for a cat to chase or a cute poodle to, well, you know. The only problem is, Fido's hankering for the outdoors often leads him astray, and who can be bothered with putting up a fence? Enter Garmin's new DC 40 dog tracking collar, the latest in the Astro GPS Dog Tracking System.
"The refinements that are found in the new DC 40 are the result of feedback from hunters and trainers," said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. "The new collar is more convenient and more durable than ever. Whether purchasing an Astro for the first time or upgrading from an older model, sporting dog owners will love the refinements that are packed into the new DC 40."
The DC 40 is mounted on a one-inch orange polyurethane coated collar strap with a small black GPS puck now integrated into the unit's main housing rather than on top of the collar. Garmin says you can combine the DC 40 with most standard e-collar receivers, so you needn't fuss with two separate collars on a dog.
Also included is a Collar Lock option that lets dog owners create a four-digit PIN number to prevent other hunters in the area from seeing their dog's whereabouts.
The DC 40 is available now for $250, or $600 for teh DC 40 transmitter and Astro 220 handheld (pictured).
