Thrustmaster F1 Wheel Puts You in a Ferrari for $200
As much as we hate to admit it, we'll never live out our dream of being a professional Formula race car driver. Life simply took us down a different path, but why sulk about it? The cool thing about PCs is being able to enter other worlds on a whim, or in the case of Thrustmaster's Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On, a whim and 200 smackers.
Thrustmaster's $200 racing wheel is an exact life-size replica of the real thing. If you've always dreamed about piloting a Ferrari 150° Italia, this might be as close as you'll ever get. It's equipped with a Quick Release attachment system that enables users to attach the wheel face to the T500 RS base in a matter of seconds, Thrustmaster says. That means if you own an RS Series wheel base, you're good to go.
You'll find all kinds of knobs, switches, and action buttons to play with. There are two rotary encoder switches allowing direct, on-the-track optimization of the car's race settings, eight push-buttons, three metal switches with three positions and automatic centering feature, two 8-directional D-pads, and two up/down shifters.
As for the construction, the Ferrari F1 Wheel features a scratch-brushed reinforced metal and rubber textured grips. We get the need for speed just thinking about it.
The Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On will ship in early October.
