Technology Companies Dominate Top 50 Best Global Green Brands of 2011
Automobile maker Toyota grabbed the No. 1 spot in Interbrand's top 50 list of the "Best Global Green Brands" while consulting agency Accenture edged in at No. 50. Swarming the available spots in between, however, are a bevy of technology companies, including heavy hitters like Hewlett Packard (No. 5), Dell (No. 8), Intel (No 26), and Microsoft (No 30), as well as several others.
Notable entries not listed above include:
- Cisco (No. 9)
- Panasonic (No. 10)
- Apple (No. 13)
- Sony (No. 18)
- IBM (No. 19)
- Nokia (No. 22)
- Samsung (No. 25)
- Canon (No. 28)
- Xerox (No. 31)
- Philips (No. 32)
- Nintendo (No. 43)
That's a total of at least 15 technology companies, and we say "at least" because it's entirely possible we missed an entry or two. Interbrand said it comprised the list by combining "public perception of environmental sustainability ('green') with a demonstration of that performance based on publicly available information and data." In other words, companies have to both talk the talk and walk the walk in order to make the list.
