Tea Party Leader Pinched for Selling Pirated Software
Any college student will tell you it's not a party until someone gets arrested. If that's the case, the Grand Strand Tea Party just earned its party status, and possibly doomed its future. According to reports, authorities arrested Tea Party president Anthony Trinca for allegedly selling counterfeit software.
Citing a police report, local news station WMBF News says Trinca's undoing came after one his customers purchased six Rosetta Stone language programs from him, each one advertised on Craigslist for $125 a pop. The victim says he sold two of the copies, and that one of his customers discovered the software was counterfeit. The victim then sought a refund from Trinca, who allegedly refused and essentially told the buyer to go pound sand.
The victim claims he picked up four of the six purchased copies from Trinca's home, where he saw other programs he believes to be pirated software based on their low prices, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.
Following an investigation, local police arrested the 61-year-old Grand Strand Tea Party leader, along with his 23-year-old son Micheal Trinca. Both have been released on a $5,000 bond.

No trolls here.
Just concerned individuals pointing out that politics have NO place at MPC (even though MPC claims adamantly that there is none). It has become apparent in the last couple of weeks that political viewpoints are making it into areas that take away from the integrity of this magazine. The Murdoch blocker and this article which takes a jab at the supposed "leader" of the tea party.
The point that I and others have made here on two recent online articles is simple.
Please leave politics out of MPC magazine.
This viewpoint is not trolling or an imaginary viewpoint seen by one or two readers.
While several on this thread have call it whining, bitching, etc. consider the Duke Nukem article a few weeks ago where many disagreed with the author and "whined" & "bitched" about the review DN was given... I OTOH agreed with the article, but did not engage in the name calling with those who merely disagreed with my opinion. They are entitled to their opinion, as well.
Please consider that others may see bias where you do not because of your own prejudice.
My guess is that there are more than a few subscribers that agree with myself and the others who took the time to write about their concerns.
In my 4+ years of reading online & being a subscriber shortly after the name change from Boot Magazine (until a bit over 2 years ago) I have responded to only 3 articles. One to the published magazine & twice to the online version.
Perhaps this should mean something to MPC. Time will tell whether they listen or continue to allow their own bias into articles where political viewpoints have no genuine place.
Hopefully, MPC will look beyond the shortsightedness of the very few who post frequently on this site to consider their wider audience (both print and online) who do not respond.
I would love to be able to support MPC through a regular subscription, again, but cannot until I see whether or not they will report MAXIMUM PC / MIN BS.
Sincerely,
pahuber

Where does it end. Don't publish anything that has that relates to religion, sex orintation, race, etc.... because it might offend someone. You can disagree with the artlice in question but do it without insulting them. Most readers DID NOT see in political slant on it. You did. That's your problem not MPC. MPC has the right to publish anything they want. It's there website. There are many articles I don't like, but unlike you, I don't insult the writer nor I tell them what they can or cannot publish. And this is a civil debate. Since you posted your concern in a civil manner, you will get a civil reponse. :) Well hope you have a nice day.
Carlidan
Peace out.

You should know, change is hard. Can't MPC just admit they are the problem not the solution with there liberal bias.

Just ignore him. He likes when you respond. I don't think I've ever seen him make a post about anything not related to feeling butthurt over what he thinks are politics. He's not even responding to or countering the arguments others are making as to why this is a valid news story. He's just bitching. Any quantum of a point he began with has long disappeared as a result of his behaviour, and he's even embarrassed the other trolls into hiding. If you ignore him, he'll either stop or just continue to make a bigger fool of himself. That's better than pages of people insulting each other because no one wants to discuss the issue intelligently.

I know it's diluting the comments with nonsense and I'm sorry for it. But it's so fun to egging on Papa Bear. <------------ See how I insulted you. I mean if he wants attention, probably his parents did give him enough, then I will oblige him. I'm a nice person. :)

Ghock, if you had one shred of intellect then you would know I am trying to help MPC.
I am not surprised you wish to get Carlidan to stop responding... if I was taking your position then I would too... mainly on the cringe factor.

And if you had one shred of social intelligence you'd at least be able to address me by my correct handle. I mean, Christ, I'm not usually one to pick on a typo (we all make mistakes), but when you're trying to insult my intelligence you could at least get my name right.
Why don't you do something constructive? I'm sure you could find a tech story that happens to portray a liberal in a bad light, maybe you could try to get Max PC to write about it? if you think they're being hypocrites, PROVE IT. Instead you're just BITCHING.
Cringe factor, sure? I don't like seeing pages full of people insulting each other. Carlidan is taking a good part of that. But as far as I can see, you're doing it just as much... and honestly, Carlidan's at least doing a better job. Plus it was you who started this whole tilting at windmills thing. What do you mean my "position"? Am I on the same "side" you mentioned to TerribleToaster down below?
Listen, there aren't two sides or positions here, at least not in the way you think. There's you and a few others getting upset that some politics are mentioned in an article because you don't agree with what you perceive the angle to be. Then there's the rest of us who want to read a funny story about a stupid hypocrite. You're killing the buzz. You think this is some political thing, but it's not. It's a funny story. We're laughing. You just don't get it. Which goes back to you having no social intelligence.
...you ARE being a great help to MaxPC, though. The amount of comments on this article is insane, I can only imagine what the hit count is.
Now I'm going to take some of my own advice and stop responding to you.

Didn't you know. Maximum PC changed to MaximumDNC. It's the place to be if you want to bash conservatives. No hidden agenda here. If you don't believe me, just read between the lines when you read any articles from Maximum PC. If you look closely, every article has a line that makes fun of conservatives. Really.

Just a few facts:
- I agree with the majority of the ideas that the Tea Party stands behind, especially when it comes to being conservative with government spending and lowering taxes.
- I am a small business owner whose clients are other small businesses.
- I am a dedicated reader of MaxPC since the EARLY days (issue 02) of a little publication called boot.
With that being said, I think the article was newsworthy because it had to do with some idiot who was selling copies of counterfeit software out of his house! C'mon people that's just hilarious. This guy is obviously a moron and I don't take offense to the article being published because every political party has its weirdos and people on the fringe of really agreeing with the majority of the party's ideas.
I have enough faith in the readers of MaxPC that they can laugh at this guy and know that he doesn't represent every person in the US, let alone a large group of people who are in a political party.

No your lying. RINO. /sarcasm
I really do blame media for this. Especially one specfic news orgainzation. If you watch it's news. You can see they want a divided nation. All they talk about extremist, illegals, socialism, gays, anti-christians, commuism, muslims, nazis, etc..... no real substance. They don't want a civil debate, they want an angry mob.

How is selling pirated software tolerant? Or are you just talking out of context about shit that has nothing to do with this article?
What exactly is the Tea Party's stance on copyright and other related stuff? Does anyone know? Because there seems to be no one in Washington who seems to share my opinion on the matter, yet there are plenty of voters who do.
Not that my opinons include thinking that it's okay to sell pirated software, of course.

I love how you just shove words in his mouth.
The story is a high profile figure was caught and arrested for pirating. It has been all these other guys like you that are twisting it into some sort of party politics message. Paul removed everything that had to do with the Tea Party's politcal views from the article (Tea party is only mentioned twice and used as an adjective both times), anything you assume he is attacking is based on your own ideas, not his. So if you don't want this to be about politics, then don't talk about politics.

Add me to the list of "the people who are whining about the political side of the story need to get a life."
It involves selling illegal software. By someone who by their own political grandstanding should be the last person(s) engaging in something like this.
It's a worthy news story with a techie side to it. Get over it...
