i like how when people illegally share a song and get caught for it and get slapped with a fine the amount per track is always astronimical like the cheerleader in texas who got nailed with that fine of $27,750 which like the post says $750 a track. but yet i could go on itunes and buy all those songs she shared illegally for less then a dollar a piece. so can someone explain to me how i can buy them for a buck a piece but this chick somehow cause she stole them screwed them out of 750$ a track? are you telling me that more then 750 people downloaded each track once? i doubt it. but thats the greedy corprate america for you. always trying to fill there pockets anyway they can.

I think it'd be better to charge, say, $10 or $20 per song. That might stop the person from pirating without making them go backrupt.

I think it's ridiculous how government agencies are pawns of the entertainment industry. What happened to justice and letting the punishment fit the crime? I find it especially terrible that they're trying to make minors pay ridiculous amounts of money they don't have or even spend time in jail.

There are lots of crimes which are more severe that have a lesser punishment, especially when it comes to minors.

I don't exactly blame the govt agency, here's why... As anyone knows, there are many, many stupid laws on the books. Or laws written stupidly let's say. Not all those laws are enforced. Some are even un-enforcable. So it comes down to money and how much of it you're willing to throw at a given problem. The entertainment industry (thanks to you and me) are sitting on HUGE piles of money. Billions and billions. Well, with all that money you can sure as hell bet that a lot of it is going to end up in the hands of politicians and political candidates. Usually of the 'liberal' persuasion shall we say? That's where the 'enforcement' part comes in... follow the money. Plain and simple.

There are plenty of higher crimes and bigger Gov't problems out there yet their solution is to add one more kid into those problems. Gotta love the priorities of the nations of this world.

I wonder what many youth would do today if they shut the internet down for a week? lol

"OMG, my Wi-Fi's aren't working! I can't see my friends on Facebook and my LimeWire's won't download the latest Lady Gaga single. ITS THE END OF THE WORLD."

I'd watch tv or hang out with some friends.  It's not that big of a deal really lol.

Actually, you're wifi will work just fine (since wifi is the ability to access a network wirelessly and not necessarily Internet), it's your internet access that will have issues.
