The beast being not the entertainment industry itself, but the outrageous greed in it.

Yeah, they're horrible for wanting to get paid for their product. All the actors and crews that make these movies should work for free so you can still not purchase their movie.

Yeah, this argument is old and tired. 99% of the people that work on a movie set get paid either a salary or by the hour. All the work is done BEFORE the movie gets released. They are all paid regardless of whether the movie is a hit or a flop.

Newsflash, do you think all those gaffers get a cut of the profits? Do you think most of the actors do? Well, shocker, they don't. When a movie makes $200m in profits, where do you think that money goes? To the riggers? To the makeup artists or costumers? To the editors or sound artists? "Oh, won't something think of the children of all those poor, poor starving movie-makers! How will they put food on the table???" Please, spare me.

And y'know what, if it means the end of the corrupt MPAA and associated studios, yeah, I'm ok with a few people losing their jobs. Sometimes in a war you get collateral damage. Movies will never not get made, even if/when the movie studios implode from their own greed. People will always make movies, and there will always be a need for talented people to work on them.

If I make the conscious decision to not pay to see movies this means they're not getting any of my money. Period. Whether I actually see the movie at some point is irrelevant, cause either way they're never getting a dime out of me.

What war? Are we talking about The Battle For I want All My Stuff For Free (or what you're willing to pay for it)?

Try walking into a car dealership and stealing a car because you feel that the auto industry is greedy and that their products are priced above what you feel is reasonable. Make that argument when you go to court and then get back to us and tell us how you made out.

If the auto industry actively engaged in bribing our politicians and coercing the governments of other nations into passing thinly-veiled censorship laws in the name of greed then yes, I would do the same thing -- advocate never ever buying a new car, thereby cutting off their money supply. But that doesn't mean I'd stop driving my car, cause that would just be silly, wouldn't it?

Yes, because the people who make the cars only get a few pennies per car. they continue to make hundreds of thousands off that car when it goes onto Pay Per View and people can watch them in their living room. They also make a ton of money when the car is on tour in the area performing concerts.
