Apple even steals apps from some of the peeps who write and sell apps in their stores. They then market it as their own products. I have read several cases of this happening.

Good riddance Steve. Now as soon as Gates and Balmer take a dirt nap, maybe these ridiculous patent wars will go away

And what is your issue with Bill Gates? He's retired and stepped down. Him and his wife are focusing on the "Bill & Melinda Gates foundation" which I believe the majority of his fortune is going towards. Steve horded his money for himself and screwed over the little guy.

You folks are really, really sad...

avatar

Pyrophorics05

Steve Jobs got to where he was by stealing others ideas. I really think he was insane.

avatar

Carbon

Jobs' greatest accomplishment was making the tech retarded think they are actually techies and that they had everything first.

Amazing Marketing dept., but they have always been a lying sack of SH*T and have been busted countless times in lies.

Will NEVER give them a dollar, even with that nutjob now gone!

What a douche.

He stole his fair share of ideas creating the original Mac OS, a WYSIWYG interface, and the mouse.

A self-righteous, deluded douche.

Someone needs to take Steve Jobs and his coffin and shoot it off into space towards a "Black Hole. This way the evil will be confined and would never escape.

Cut and pasted from an article I read:

"By any honest account, Apple operates today with a mindset of total monopolistic domination, requiring apps to be sold through its iTunes, where Apple takes an unfair cut of every sale. In fact, Apple has come to very much resemble the Orwellian Big Brother image that once made it famous in its January 22, 1984 Superbowl ad, which positioned Apple's Macintosh computer as freeing people from tyranny."

I have been anti apple since the early 90s when I had a 286 PC.  I almost bought an Ipod then I found out about DRM, I almost bought an Iphone then I found out you couldn't use a song you already bought as a ringtone without paying another $0.99, I almost bought an Ipad but then I found out it didn't support flash. Maybe someday they'll make a product that'll finally change my mind but so far I haven't been impressed.

Whoopty-freaking-do.

Someone somewhere quoted a CEO of a huge corporation raging over competition.

Who cares what Steve Jobs said about another huge corporation? Oh wait...your target audience does. Hard-ons like that Coldrage idiot down there who can only spout the same "F__k you. Hurry up and die." crap on every post with the words "Apple" or "Jobs" in the title.

I'm still waiting for a good follow-up on Microsoft's incessant bullying and extortion of the Linux/open-source community. Gee, I wonder why they don't sue Apple for "infringing on its patents..." ...I'm not really waiting. That would take a lot of new staff at MPC for a story criticizing MS to materialize.

You know there's a world of difference between huge profitable corporations like Google and Apple trying to stifle each other's competition and (Maximum Windows) Microsoft endlessly screwing  with openSUSE and the like.

Thanks for asking.

acidic

he is just a complete tool bag apple fanboy. that is all

avatar

Engelsstaub

Yes, a fanboy.

As opposed to an attention-whore "I'm the only person who ever served so respect me!" who trolled up the thread about Jobs' death. Had to keep posting comments with the same vile substance over and over just so you'd be noticed. Could have just said your piece once but you had to make sure everyone saw your stupid comments.

I served in the military too. So did a lot of people. It doesn't make us special or give us a reason to demand respect or cry about free speech when we're just being assholes on the internet.

You have no respect for people you don't even know. Don't expect any in return.

avatar

acidic

i guess reading and comprehension wasnt a requirement in whatever mos you had if any. id say you were a useless 42a or 96f. hurry up and google it to see what they are. i never once "demanded" respect. maybe you should ask your new buddy siri to teach you how to read. oh wait, thats probably against apples eula and it will tell you it cant. probably due to apples fanatic cult following hippies being able to read, it would enlighten them and then they could truely see what people actually think of apple. oh yeah, dont forget to pick up father steves biography today. have a wonderful day

avatar

I was a "useless" 95C. Military Police Corps/Corrections Specialist. You hate faceless corporations, their co-founders, and the users of their products. It's all ant-hipster to do so when it comes to Apple. Fine. Your pathetic hatred for anonymous people on the 'net now extends to your own fellow "useless" vets (42a or 96f?)

Here's a little tidbit of the trolling you did on the aforementioned story: "...unlike you, ive fought 2 wars for my country and have earned my right to freedom of speech. respect is something im all out of due to it having to be EARNED not giving away."

"Not giving away," huh? My reading and comprehension tells me that you're possibly just lonely (and ironically enough can't punctuate or capitalize.) If so, I'm sincerely sorry. I can ascertain from everything you've posted on here above and in the past that you're just being an attention-seeking troll. A troll in the truest sense, not just because I don't agree with you.

The truth is I don't care about your service any more than you should care about mine. We weren't drafted, we were volunteers. Be that as it may, my service ended not long after Desert Storm. So I would need to Google for MOSes as the numbering system has changed.

Other than that, I won't assume to know you or throw some useless stereotypes at you based on the computers you prefer. Based on the crap you write, however, I would have preferred not to serve with you. There was plenty enough bitches&snitches in the military when I was there.

My day is fine. Hope you get outside as well.

avatar

Deltymcnelty

I don't want to be a dick. But you say "ive fought 2 wars for my country and have earned my right to freedom of speech". You didn't just fight for yours, you, and a epic ton of other people have fought for Americas right. Just because you were the one fighting, doesn't mean you get more say than anyone else in America.

I don't want to be a dick, but the Militaristic attitude is so self centered sometimes that I can't help but say something. With that being said, I still appreciate what you, and all the other military have done for us. It wasn't wasted. But we all have the same rights, if we didn't, This wouldn't be America.

avatar

Caboose

Yes, yes. You were both useless grunts in eachother's eyes. Can we stop this dick waving contest already?

avatar

Engelsstaub

I'm still a useless grunt. Just in the civilian-sector now ;)

"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong,"

How'd that work out for ya Ahab?

avatar

Coldrage

Glad you're dead, fuck you.
Haven't wasted a penny on your company.

avatar

I just got 2 android phones. Probably the biggest reason is because I didn't want to have to deal with itunes and the apple app store. I'd rather get my apps from the phone itself, thank you....

avatar

dpgdog187

Its humorous to hear such bold statements from Mr. Jobs in regards to the inception of Google's Android platform. Last time I checked competitiveness was the life blood of the market and without this sort of conflict alot of idiots would have been happy buying Iphones and multiplying like rodents. I am saddened though by the demise of the great man and his unwillingness to settle disputes on the open market.

avatar

ilfipian

Also, Google didn't create Android, They bought it and brought it in house. So it's odd for Jobs to claim Android is a stolen idea and blame google for it because of what Schmidt saw from his board position.

More likely, Schmidt saw a future product and wanted to be in that market. So he went and found an existing solution.

I'm glad this hypocrite is dead, and that his presence no longer pollutes the world. If there is any justice in the universe, he'll be reincarnated as one of the Chinese children toiling in Apple's sweatshops.

avatar

jesse_n_sf

I admire your bravery. And I am with you 100%

avatar

Dartht33bagger

It just sounds like Jobs was whining because he couldn't have a smart phone monopoly.

avatar

warptek2010

This guy was always viewed as some kind of genius visionary. My gut instinct always told me better and it was essentially correct. Coupled with the facts of his anger management problems towards his inner circle that often went way beyond professionalism this guy was nothing more than megalomania personified. Imagine him in charge of a country instead of just a corporation and any argument about his merits fly out the window. Thanks Steve for reinforcing my wanting an Android smart phone over anything else more than ever. Long live open standards!

avatar

CaptainFabulous

He shows all the hallmark traits of being a full-blown sociopath.

avatar

jgrimoldy

Steve Jobs was a contemporary P.T. Barnum.

He most certainly was NOT a genuis (one button mouse).  He was just a really good showman, had really good foresight, had a good grasp on the obvious, and was a huge dick.

avatar

chipmunkofdoom2

Wow.. deja vu.

Remember about 20 years ago or so when Apple took the technology from Xerox for the mouse and GUI? Remember when Microsoft and Bill Gates took that design and Steve Jobs cried "theft" for doing essentially what they had just done to Xerox?

Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) said a fantastic quote in Modern Marvels: Computers.. I can't remember it word for word, but this was the basic idea. He was talking about how Steve Jobs had said Microsoft had stole the GUI. Wozniak said that the GUI and mouse was clearly the future.. once you see it in action, you can't really go back. Apple needed Microsoft to write software for the early Mac computers and they had to give Microsoft prototypes with mice and GUIs to work on. Wozniak said himself he wouldn't exactly call that stealing. Once you saw a mouse and GUI, you knew it was the future. The same thing is true with iPhone, Android, etc.

Once you see a phone that can do all that the iPhone could, you can't really un-see what you've seen. Everyone was smart enough to know this was the future, and is Google stealing because they jumped on the band wagon? Eh. If Woz hasn't changed his philosophies, no they aren't.

avatar

CaptainFabulous

THIS. Stevie conveniently forgets that pretty much every thing he did was borrowed or stolen from other people. I'll give credit where credit is due -- he was a master at taking tech and putting a mesmerizing and enthralling shine on it. But that's it. He never created a damned thing. He "borrowed" other people's idea and turned them into his own. That his panties were all in a bunch that someone else was doing the same thing he built his entire career upon only reinforces how detached from reality he was.

avatar

jgrimoldy

I think it's more like 30 years ago.

Apple sells you a Ford Fiesta, charges you the price of a BMW, convinces you that it's a Ferrari.

avatar

bling581

Too comical. He could've tried all he wanted and it would never happen. Android is successful for reasons that Apple just ignores. Everyone knew how big his ego was but this just confirms it further. They accuse them of grand theft when the ideas for the iPhone and iPad were out long before Apple made their move. Like usual they steal ideas or variations of another product and try to mark it as their own ingenious idea.

avatar

Andacious

Right? No one seems to remember the original PDA from Palm that really ignited the whole "handheld big touchscreen" form factor. Jobs took that idea and made it his own claiming supremecy over it because he had better sales. Almost every corporation out there now has borrowed ideas from someone else so Jobs had no right to make Android the scapegoat.

avatar

ilfipian

Apple had the Newton before Palm did the Pilot. But other things preceeded even the Newton.

avatar

keyzs

Long live Android!!!

avatar

cigar3tte

If it wasn't for Android, iOS still wouldn't have Notification Center.

avatar

Marthian

On second thought, I think I'll take my "rest in peace" comment back.

avatar

ZayLay

Classic Meglomaniac, thought he was more powerful than science, then religion, then the law.  Claims he was such an innovator drive me nuts because all the suing he did to protect ideas he stole anyway only hampered innovation.

avatar

Ulrich

speaking of ripping other companies off... Musicmatch, and Rio say hi! itunes ripped off musicmatch, and iPod ripped off the rio. Apple took an idea, made it better and became rich off it. Also andriod wouldn't have the lead it has if IOS was available on other phones instead of just apple products.

avatar

paschal

There is a lot of a t edison re-incarnation going on there.  Who will he come back as next time?

avatar

iheartpcs

One thing Apple has been consistent about is their claim to always have been the first for everything.

avatar

nmanguy

What's even worse is that they usually steal decades-old stuff from Microsoft.

avatar

LatiosXT

And yet the iPhone is just a collection of other ideas rolled into one package.

avatar

Morete

Well Steve, life isn't fair.  At least that's what they always tell me when I complain.

avatar

Caboose

Holy crap! He WAS a nutjob!

avatar

fuzz_64

... since Apple's way of operating has (mostly) been to take someone else's idea, improve upon it and reap the rewards.

I guess it's easier to criticize when someone else is doing something "wrong" than to realize you yourself are doing it.
