Stargate Worlds MMO Lacking Credits Needed to Continue?

Another day, but still no dollar. According to a stark-white sliver of the Internet, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment (developer of Stargate Worlds) employees' bank accounts are on life support -- having gone without a fresh cash transfusion for 23 days and counting. Senior Marketing Manager Kevin Balentine replied to the above allegation, but his words didn't exactly inspire confidence.
"At Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, we have always been upfront with the media and our fans that we are a start up. Like many start ups, we face the same cash-flow issues that all pre-revenue companies face. We have maintained a core of dedicated investors, but the new economic realities are forcing us to seek out additional sources of funding and that's what we're doing," Balentine said.
In addition, TenTonHammer's team of grapevine-whisperers recently heard that "more" employees have abandoned their posts at CME over the past few weeks. Definitely not a good sign for the struggling start-up.
However, we hold out hope that Stargate Worlds won't crash and burn before even crossing the starting line. After all, many mods died to bring us this game, and we wouldn't want their valiant sacrifices to be in vain.

Well, at the risk of violating my NDA wth CME and others, I need to say that it would definately be a shame if this MMO never sees the light of day -- beyond the pre-beta, beta, & public beta that it's gone through so far.
Yes, I'm testing for SGW and have been since the beginning when I was one of the first 50 'outsiders' (User #26) allowed to "step through the gate." And since day one...it's been a helluva fun & wild ride!
The gameplay, storyline, graphics, etc...all premium quality, with an attention to detail AND to the fan base/players suggestions...CME and Firesky have an absolute WINNER in my humble opinion and if they can weather out the financial storm, SGW will make a lot of players and fans AND investors, very happy.

I actually am very curious

I actually am very curious about this game. I would have wished for it to be non-mmo or have that aspect to it, as that's more my style, but for the right price I would try it.
I saw a quick advert for the sweepstakes on Atlantis a week or so ago, but other than that, wasn't sure if the game was out or not.
I hope it at least gets a chance. It would be worth that much. If not, perhaps they can mod it to a closed system intenet sale game.

Well perhaps it was just

Well perhaps it was just never meant to happen. It's sad that people lost money. I've lost half of my 401K so far.
Did they ask themselves if this was going to work? Did they do the Market Research?
MMO's are a risky buisness. Most fail.
Is this a game I would be interested in? No... I'm a fan of the first StarGate film but lost interest in the TV spinoff series that came from the movie.
Was there ever enough fans that had the capability to enjoy an MMO like this to even keep it alive when it went gold? Doubtful. I heard it took a letter writing campaign to Keep the StarGate series on TV.
I hope I don't offend fans. I'm not trying to. I just don't see MMO's like this lasting very long.
Why don't they just ask

Stargate

I love Stargate SG-1 and I’m a fan of Stargate Atlantis plus
all of the movies that they’ve made so far for the Stargate show. However, for
me, the killer was when MGM originally killed the previous Stargate game set to
come out a year or two ago and then they introduced this new game which was not
at all appealing to me. This is just an assumption, but in my own view, MGM has
failed to receive the widely needed support for this second game, as they got
in the first game. What made the first game so appealing to millions has made
this second game seem a lot blander. I think Stargate fans worldwide were
crushed when MGM’s first game was killed. Being a big Stargate fan, I can say
that this game was one that I was probably going to skip because I just didn’t
find any interest in it, as I did the first one.
