Square Enix Brings Japanese Pretty Boys to Steam
Posted 02/25/09 at 02:21:08 AM by Nathan Grayson

Traditionally a console-focused publisher, Square Enix has finally decided to bestow its, er, unique sensibilities upon Steam’s ever-growing masses.
On April 9, the Japanese mega-publisher will drop add its first drop – a JRPG called The Last Remnant – to Steam’s bucket, with promises of more to come.
"We are excited to offer the millions of Steam customers online access to Square Enix titles beginning with our major action RPG, The Last Remnant," said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix."Square Enix is committed to delivering the best quality titles to PC gamers and distribution on Steam is one of the many steps we are taking to increase accessibility for fans in North America and PAL territories."
We think it’s great that Steam’s embracing the Japanese side of PC gaming – just so long as it shies away from groping around in this steamy (read: NSFW) region. Thanks in advance, Valve!

I don't know if it's just the demo, or if they are going to change it in the end, but the requirements so far state that the game does not support XP x64. Now this game is supposed to be a Games for Windows title, I thought GFW ensured the compatability of 64 bit?
Yeah I know the game supports Vista x64, and I plan on moving to Windows 7 x64 when it comes out, but XP x64 isn't dead yet!
sure it is. you just don't

many years ago I played FF8 and instantly hocked, from that time I played the entire available series (FF was the main reason I bought PS2). and to be honest FF7 is the greatest title despite old graphics.
since I no longer own any console, PC versions will be most welcomed.

I wonder how PS3 users will take this...some of them have decided to not buy FFXIII because it's going on the Xbox360 too. I believe the word they used most often on Gametrailers.com was "betrayed".

those FF titles (along with the many other rpg series square enix has) belong on the ultimate platform. My one and only concern would be compatability, as eidos tried and failed miserably to put those titles on the pc platform.

Final Fantasy 7 and 8 work well on the PC and those were released by Eidos.

Classic Final Fantasy

All we need now, is Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 7 - 10, and maybe the classic FF games (6 to 1) on Steam.
I'm really hoping that they'll release Final Fantasy 7 via Steam. I've had to resort to playing FF7 on my WinXP laptop (I have Ultima Edition for PC) as I don't have the console version. Maybe some updated graphics?

True points my friend. Those features would be nice, however there's only a slim chance for that to happen. Mainly because they're old. I hate how i bought a Wii, and when i realized that there was no chrono trigger for VC i was pissed. Half the reason i bought it was to enjoy my old beloved games, and to swing lightsabers (Thank you for force unleashed)
Chrono Trigger

If you have a Nintendo DS, you can get Chrono Trigger on it. It's identicle to the SNES version (with some names changed to be closer to the Jap. version). It's got the cutscenes from the PS1 re-release too! And with touch control. It's freaking awesome!!
It even has "New Game Plus+" which is from the PS1 version...
Sooo basically, it's the PS1 version on your DS. Its awesome!
