Spy Gains Revolver/Cannon Combo in Latest TF2 Update

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

Tread softly and carry a big stick seems to be the motif of the Spy’s latest implement, and the self-described “cannon” sure seems to fit the bill. Nope – no subtlety here. Just big, loud, accurate lead. Oh, and your mom.

“There are two sorts of men in this world: the sort with blood pouring out of a hole in their heads, and the sort holding the Ambassador [hand cannon]. It has the ammo count of a revolver and the pinpoint accuracy of a sniper rifle, even at long range. (But remember, a gun that packs this much heat needs to cool off between shots, so make every shot count.),” says the Team Fortress blog.

The gun’s barrel – in keeping with Meet the Spy’s risqué twist – initiates its potent humiliation-death combo with an engraved picture of your enemy’s mother. And if your mom doesn’t (ahem) have it going on, well, the image actually can be unseen. The death part tends to take care of that.

avatarI suck at Spy

I've played as a Spy for maybe 10 total minutes...did nothing but die the whole time. It seems really complicated. Maybe this new update will give me some incentive to check it out again.

avatarMy humble tips

I'm not the greatest spy, but I've come to enjoy it. The trick is to get behind the enemies main lines. This is actually pretty hard, I can usually only make it 1 or 4 times. Once behind the lines remember the weapons of fallen players and metal will recharge your cloak.

Once behind enemy lines start talking with your medics. Get them to warn you before they uber charge. If you can start sapping 1/2 a second before they uber you can take out any engineer nest.

As to back stabbing, WTF! I've been "back stabbed" so many times in the face I lose count, yet when I try and back stab most of the time I "miss" and end up getting cut to pieces by some angry sniper. Anybody figured out what the games ruels are on this? I mean the real rules the game is using, not the stated rules that don't seem to be 100% accurate.

avatarAs for as i know kc7wbq, the

As for as i know kc7wbq, the damage done is random. I also know there are other multiple factors which dictate how much damage is actually done such as range, ect.  In fact, due to this randomization, TFTrue is a mod which goes under strict rules of how much damage is done.

avatarThanks

I didn't know weapons recharge your cloak. Is it the same for ammo?

As for backstabs...you got me. I've been backstabbed no less than 10,000 times, but every time I try to do it I get immediately killed. I didn't know you had to uncloak first...I sure as hell don't see anyone around me right before I get backstabbed and I make it a point to watch my back.

Backstabbing isn't as easy as some people make it look.  The better spies out there are good at waiting until you're distracted by one of their teammates and then immediately dropping their cloak and stabbing.  Or more likely they weren't cloaked, but just disguised.
