Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed on PC

If it’s not one thing, it’s another, they say. But in this case, it’s both one thing and another. First, we found out that we won’t be able to take Splinter Cell Conviction for a test run on the PC, and now comes word that the PC version of Ubisoft’s latest grizzled stealth-shooter needs a couple extra weeks on the grill.
Originally set to launch on April 13, the game will now drop on April 27. Amazon.com originally broke the news, and a Ubisoft rep confirmed its veracity with Big Download. Sorry folks – this one’s set in stone.
As for why Conviction was delayed, Ubisoft wouldn’t say. Generally, these little release hiccups are due to hang-ups in the certification process, so we’re gonna guess it’s just something mundane like that. Sorry, conspiracy theorists, no dice here. Besides, don’t you already have enough evidence to justify that tinfoil hat?

Not surprised at all... And how many times does it have to happen before the question of if they're doing it on purpose stops becoming speculation?

Anybody surprised by this? It was actually more surprising that Ubisoft didn't announce it earlier. It is becoming a trend to release multiplatform games on PC later. Get used to it. And honestly what's another 2 weeks for a game that was delayed 3 for years...

they'll be wasting time developing games for PC which will just get pirated ...
if thats the case.. they should sell as much console games as possible, then use the profit to make PC version for FREE ! If game developer puts PC games on the last, I won't even buy it for $5.

I really doubt they're worrying about getting the PC version certified until the console versions roll out the door. Let's face it, this is the distributors' reaction to piracy. Since they just think all these copies will get stolen ayways, they don't even care about the PC version of a game. Which sucks, because it screws over legitimate buyers. This whole situation is just poorly handled by every party out there.

The way I understand it is that most developers submit each version of their game for cert around the same time. However, certification for different platforms can take different amounts of time. Depending on the game, that amount of time might fluctuate. This, as you can imagine, is pretty difficult to plan for. So, every once in a while, one version of a game might see a one or two week delay.
At least, that's how one developer explained it to me. So yeah, the more you know and stuff.

However, I also know that a game usually doesn't get through cert without needing some minor modifications. What I'm saying is that when these changes are requested, the devs and publishing team rush to update the console versions and resubmit it, while the PC version is left for after the console versions get through. That's my understanding of this, and of course the intentional PC delay is purely speculation.
