Splashtop Ports Remote Desktop App to the PC
Splashtop's Remote Desktop software is arguably the best software of its kind for the iPad. With it, iPad owners can manipulate their computer desktop from their tablet, and if nothing else, it's a cost effective way of sidestepping the lack of Flash support on iOS. Splashtop is also available on Android, and announced Tuesday, there's now a Windows client for PC-to-PC and PC-to-Mac remote access from a private network or across the Internet.
"Splashtop is delivering on our vision of bridging billions of devices together, whether they are running iOS, Android, webOS or Windows," said Mark Lee, CEO and co-founder of Splashtop. "With our new Windows client, we now can connect more than a billion Windows PCs, as well as billions of tablets and smartphones, with PCs and Macs."
Unlike some remote desktop apps, Splashtop's version enables apps to deliver high quality audio and video by tapping into the remote PC's graphics card. It can stream HD movies and videos at up to 30 frames per second, play 3D games with low latency, and is easy to setup and use.
And the best part? It's free. You can download the Windows client here.

A quick google search leads me to believe that they do not use any encryption. The emphasis on performace lends credance to this belief.

now all they need is to add a linux server/client version to accompany the Mac and Windows versions they already have, just to ensure ease of use for techies not on the windows bus or mac short bus. Afterall, remoting apps are great for helping friends and/or family members with computer problems (as a starter).

If you are looking for a commercial use product you should not be shopping the freebie section! There are other viable options out there for the commercial user that are reasonably priced and likely offer a lot better support, additional features and better security (which I hope companies are looking for)
