Special Edition Star Wars Xbox 360 Coming This Spring
On April 3rd of this very year, we know exactly where you can find the droids you’re looking for. Microsoft is releasing a special edition Xbox 360 console done up to look like the iconic droids from the Star Wars movies. The system was first teased at last year’s Comic Con. The bundle comes with the system and a few Kinect-related extras for $449.
Buyers will get a 320GB console painted to resemble R2-D2, and a controller with a C-3PO gold finish. The box also includes a Kinect sensor and two games; Star Wars Kinect and Kinect Adventures. The latter has been around for since the Kinect launched, but Star Wars Kinect has five game modes plucked from the Star Wars saga. There are podraces, lightsaber duels, Galactic Dance-off (for some reason), and more.
The Xbox 360 is coming toward the end of its life cycle, so the wisdom of getting a new console now is dubious at best. Although, if you’re going to get one, this might be justifiable for the Star Wars fans out there.

When stuff like this starts to pop-up on shelves, it usually means the product cycle is approaching its end.

So, your saying it has been end of life for 6 years now, as MS has been doing these themed consoles for just as long as the 360 has been out.

Well said Big M! I was wondering where this guy got that logic from?
Just off the top of my head there was the Halo 3 theme, the Final Fantasy theme, Ninja Gaiden theme, Halo Reach theme, Modern Warfare theme, Gears of War theme, and I believe there was an Assassians Creed theme, but not 100%, but the fact remains this by no means that Microsoft is digging at the bottom of the barrel.

you are right.... and xbox 720 games are going to be backwards compatible with xbox 360s via digital download. the reason the xbox 720 isnt going to be as powerful as today's videocards is because they want to sell a price that is worth it with 1080p. plus 512mb and a single-core processor has pulled out pretty convenient graphics. the xbox 720 will make 1080p genuinely 3d capable because it fails to deliver 3d performance, especially with 720p games.

Single core processor?
Not as powerful as today's video cards?
512MB RAM?and where did you get these little tidbits of information, Playstationfanboi.com or Nintendofanboi.com?
Big M has already hit the meat on that bone, but I would also like to add that currently the 360 has 3 PowerPC processors (with the SLIM having all those as well as the GPU on the same package), and the fact that single core processors are a rarity these days. Not to mention asking AMD or Nvidia to go through the expense of retooling their factories to produce out of date hardware!

Then there is no reason to buy a 720, and graphics and game design will continue to be limited by the console :(
Hengsha could have been SO much more had it not been gimped by the crap hardware of the console. That there had to be loading screens between the districts was laughable on PC. Detroit could have been more populated and the Chiron Building wouldn't have needed its own load screen nor would Sarif Industries or the TINY Limb Clinic.
Another 6+ years of the same crap graphics. Thanks Microsoft.

The 720 is based on AMD's 6670 chip which means DX 11 graphics, multi monitor support and 3D. How is this limited graphics? But this is just in the development consoles, so the production systems could have more current graphics chips. AMD reckons it will be a beast of a machine, pumping out graphics that offer Avatar-levels of detail. Not only will the console be capable of Avatar-style graphics, according to Neal Robison, AMD's director of ISV relationships, it will also feature improved artificial intelligence and physics capabilities. This could mean that each individual incidental character – like the pedestrians in Grand Theft Auto, for example – could each take on their own individual personality.

What would be the point of shelling out $450 for that? By the time this comes out, the next generation XBox will be less than a year away and aren't people getting just a LITTLE tired of Star Wars anything by this time?

Just wait! Next year they'll release a Special Edition that adds new effects to your games. Also, the A button on your controller won't shoot until your enemy shoots first. Then a year after THAT they'll re-release it with 3-D graphics!!!!1!

+1; yes, how much for just the controller? I wouldn't pay $450 for 6-year-old computer hardware unless it had a real, live playboy bunny that came with it.
