Sony Launches High Speed Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX
There's a new speed demon in Sony's stable of Memory Stick cards, and it's called the PRO-HG Duo HX. Capable of transferring data at 30MB/s, Sony says this is their fastest memory card yet.
Where this kind of speed will really pay dividends, says Sony, is when using features like burst shooting for DSLR or recording HD video. Using a 32GB capacity HX series Memory Stick in an Alpha DSLR camera, a user can snap about 260 images in 60 seconds (JPEG mode/Large [14MB]). That's about 160 percent more images than what's possible with a PRO Duo Memory Stick.
For recording duties, Sony claims a user can transfer about 175 minuts of HD video (1920x1080) or a 30GB file in just 17 minutes when paired with the compatible high-speed adapter, while doing so on a 32GB PRO Duo Memory Stick would take four times as long.
Available this summer, the new HX series will start out at $60 and range in capacity from 8GB to 32GB.

5$ external hdd housing
35$ 80gb hard drive
= external hard drive (esata) that is probably just as fast, and cheaper. May not be very small, but i think that the "adapter" is just as much of a "hinderence" as the external thats just a little bigger.
