Sony Announces Follow Up 400-Disc Blu-ray Megachangers
Posted 07/24/09 at 05:12:10 PM by Andy Salisbury

Earlier in the week Sony announced that they’d be releasing two new Blu-ray megachangers, both of which will hold up to 400 discs.
The two new megachangers will come in the form of the $800 BDP-CX960, which will arrive sometime in the fall, and the BDP-CX7000ES, which will retail for $2,000 and arrive in August. Why the huge price difference? In short, the CX960 will only come equipped with standard Blu-ray player features, such as Profile 2.0 and onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The CX7000ES will add 7.1 analog outputs, an RS-232 port, notably higher build quality, IR inputs and outputs, and supposedly higher quality video.
So, if you’re the kind of person that has a gigantic stack of movies that needs to be cleaned up, this just might be for you. But, with a price tag that’s $800 at the lowest, it’s a pretty tough sell.

At first I had my doubts that digital distrubition would replace optical media. Then Sony, for once, wins a format war. But I still had my doubts. Then bluray failed to replace DVDs in the same rapid manner that DVDs replaced VHS. It didn't even gain much market share after all this time, like all Sony formats from MiniDisc to memory stick, but I still had my doubts.
This... this just puts the final nail in the coffin. Sony, if you where some time ago an honest company; if there was a time before David Manning that you wheren't obnoxious, then may you rest in peace. If not, then may God have mercy on your soul.
You can have your recession. I'm not participating.
Dude...what are you talking

Dude...what are you talking about? It's a big silly disc changer, it's not an attempt at a BD killer app.

the point is kind of moot if their arent over 400 individual movies on BD.
A little math
Let's assume their are 500 unique BD movies (which even i dont buy)
That assume the target audience is other future proofing for a LONG while OR bought 4 out of every 5 BDs
