Six Billionaires Represent Facebook on Forbes Rich List
Mexico's Carlos Slim Helu is now the richest man in the world with a net worth of $74 billion. Bill Gates, despite being retired since 2008, is still the second wealthiest person on the globe with a net worth of $56 billion, edging out Warren Buffet (No. 3) by $6 billion. Way down on the Forbes rich list, but on there nonetheless, is Mark Zuckerberg (No. 52 with $13.5 billion), CEO of Facebook and one of six Facebookers now represented on the coveted list.
If you've seen "The Social Network," then you might have felt sorry for Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who was allegedly froze out of Facebook through some crafty legal maneuvering. Years later, Saverin would file a lawsuit and reach a settlement that made him a very rich man.
"Shed no tears for Eduardo," said Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of the magazine. "If you do get to be thrown out, a billion dollars isn't a bad severance package."
Saverin's net worth is $1.6 billion, according to Forbes. Other Facebookers include Sean Parker ($1.6 billion), Peter Thiel ($1.5 billion), Yuri Milner ($1 billion), and Dustin Moskovitz ($2.7 billion), co-founder and the world's youngest billionaire, a distinction that was previously held by Mark Zuckerberg.
